It annoys me how amerie always gets punished for everything, a lot which is deserved but still ppl who did way worse don’t face as much consequences, looking at Harper, spider, dusty and Sasha. A couple more things- magpies are very smart birds that swoop during breeding season to protect their nests. They will quite literally remember people and attack them repeatedly. It's not uncommon to have been attacked by one or know someone who has. The song the teachers were singing is called 'What About Me'- it's an Aussie classic/meme and the first Australian Idol runner up did the version most young people know. The music video is also very famous.

Lol.. my son was literally terrorised by a magpie his first year of uni. It found his bedroom and would sit on his windowsill tapping on the glass while he was studying. Everytime he left his flat it was there on the powerline or carport ready to swoop him. He now owns a shirt with a pic of a magpie that says 'swoopy bois' 😂

At 18:30, they're speaking Pig Latin, which was adopted by "earchers" in the early '90s so they could speak in a coded language only they know. In Pig Latin, this means "going for a search." In episode 2 or 3 of season 1, Ca$h and his friends ram-raided that store, or went for an "earch." I know I didn't have to explain all of that, but I needed to share this information with someone when given the chance

Hello non-Australian teenagers. Your Australian teenage representative is here to explain some shit: -1:02 so in the last 3 years of high school in Australia, there are formals, and you're right: they're basically the Australian equivalent of Prom. At my school there was one at the end of Year 10 (Sophomore year) and Year 12 (Senior year), but I've never heard of one at the end of Year 11 😂. -1:49 Australian schools don't follow the August/September start and May/June finish yearly schedule. Instead, we start at the end of January/early February and finish in December. The school year is split into 4 blocks of 10 weeks, referred to as "terms". In between each term is a 2-week holiday period, and after the end of the 4th term is a 6-week-ish break in between school years. Heartbreak High season 1 begins at the start of Term 1, and so season 2 is picking up at the beginning of Term 2, so about late-April/early-May. -9:10 yeah it's not normal to celebrate the START of school, at least where I'm from. We threw parties at the END of term 😂. -10:19 there's a HUUUUGGGEEE difference between city Australia, regional Australia and outback Australia. The culture, the people, the way of life, it's like 3 different worlds. Rowan's from the regions, which is also where I'm from and this lowkey gave me anxiety about studying in Sydney lmao. -10:26 long story short, in a way yeah haha. To give you an idea, I kid you not, every person with red hair at my school was incessantly teased about being a "ranga"; short for orangutan. -12:10 A bindi is a prickle. Like the kind you step on in grass. -So just some info about the "school captain" thing: Most schools in Australia (at least in the state of New South Wales) allow 4 students to be elected by their peers and teachers as school captains and deputy school captains; a girl and boy for deputy, and same for the captaincy. These people are in charge of emceeing assemblies, acting as representatives for out-of-school initiatives, organising fundraising activities, and many more. It's kinda odd how Hartley High only allows 1 school captain, but aside from that, the whole election campaign thing is pretty true to how it can go in some places. You literally just had to give a speech at my school tho haha. -24:39 the game they're playing is called AFL (Australian Football League) or Aussie Rules. Don't ask me to explain any more because sports are definitely not my area of expertise. -27:23 that thing hanging from the back of his head is a rat's tail, and it's a very popular hair...choice amongst eshays. -28:25 the way driver's licenses work in Australia is this: when you're 16, you can take a written exam to get your Learner's license, or L's. With these you can drive as long as you have a fully-licensed adult with you. Harper has her L's. What comes next is where you have to keep a logbook of 120 hours of driving. After a minimum time of 12 months, and you've completed the 120 hours, you can then go for your Provisional license or your P's. This allows you to drive unsupervised with passengers between particular hours. This is the license that Harper is accruing practice hours for. A bindi is a little spike ball that appears in grass. When your kids/in school you get like a million in your feet over the years because we just go out playing in the grass without shoes 😂 Basically, Harper was manifesting all the assholes in her school to walk around and get a bunch of spike balls stuck in their feet :)

loved the vid!! just if no one else has commented it, the sport being played is australian rules football (aka. aussie rules, AFL, or footy). it's the most popular sport in the country, we're pretty much the only country that plays it, and some of the clubs are among the oldest sporting clubs in the world (melbourne demons est. 1858). rugby league is also very popular here (especially in new south wales and queensland), but the two are about as different as soccer and american football. where rugby originated overseas in the uk, footy was born here, with some of its origins being linked to the aboriginal game of marn grook and the sport starting as a kind of unique amalgamation of different codes. it's played on a huge cricket pitch, players can run like 15km a game, the objective is to just kick as many goals as you can, and it's full contact so as long as you're going for the ball, pretty much anything goes - tackles, bumps, jumping on someone's shoulders (google what a speccy is they're cool as, andrew walker's 2011 one is my personal favourite, jamie elliott has a great recent one too). so yeah just a bit of context, it's a sick sport, go blues!

I like that missy and Malakai are friends but I hate how everyone forgets how she treats amerie cause she thinks she’s the only person involved in the map thing. High schoolers lie ALOT, and the people at this school definitely seem like the type to over exaggerate what amerie actually did to them. 1:51 it’s been a couple weeks. australian school is six weeks holidays starting december, school year starts in january or february (listen. i was in it for like eleven years. i do not remember), then ten weeks school, two weeks holidays, ten weeks, two weeks (sometimes the middle of the year one is three), ten weeks, two weeks, ten weeks and christmas holidays again. four terms in a year, two terms is a semester. in the last years of high school the christmas holidays get a little longer but i dropped out like two weeks into year eleven so i never found out exactly how much
