I don’t know if it just me but in Dexter new blood. When Harrison told Dexter that Hannah died. I thought we would get a bigger reaction of of Dexter. But I guess not. Didn’t Dexter say that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Hannah in season 8

@andresalanis2663 Rita died too, and he didn't quite grieve properly. He straight up murdered a dood in a bathroom. It was always pretty clear Dexter didn't quite understand his own emotions. Or processed them that well as he didn't deal with Brian's death very well. Had trouble killing for a minute.

Vogel was a stupid and contrived character. The logical way for season 8 to go should’ve been Batista finding out what really happened to maria

As someone who just watched thru S8 for the first time, it isn’t bad but the later episodes are poorly written. I think Zach was a great character same with Saxon, but Vogel pretty much takes away from Harry’s character since we learn it was her code and not his. i also find it extremely stupid that Dexter not only left an intelligent killer alone with his sister but also his knives which feels out of character for him. it’s like they needed a way to kill off Deb but couldn’t think of a better way. and then he dumps her body in the ocean like the rest of his victims.

i think when harrsion fell and cut his chin hannah didn't have to take him herself so overall she could of stayed untill someone could bring him to the hospital so overall the story was bs i do not like it

i can fully agree with you on this point, i never understood why people dislike the season where so much lore adds up to dexter's story + the cinematography, action and overall s8 is really good

I too wish that Dex had escaped with Hannah and Harrison, perhaps to Argentina, in the end. I agree that season 8 isn't as bad as it was first perceived; as a matter of fact, I think on re-watch it's a lot more tense and exciting as you pointed out (especially if one's binging the show, as opposed to waiting for episodes weekly and breaking each episode apart critically). I do however see Deb's death as fitting thematically, given that earlier in this same season, Deb almost attempted to kill both herself and Dexter, by driving their car into the waters.

It was a bad season, but: - Oliver as a villain is MASSIVELY underrated, there's clearly bias through the season, easy one of the best just nowhere near the big 3 (Brian/Arthur/Sirko) - Vogel had a lot of potential, but very bad executed imo

Season 8 was bad but had some decent ideas and additions. Dr Vogal wasn’t enjoyable to watch but made a lot of sense with the code. The twist of the audience being fooled and Dexter being nothing more than a lab experiment this whole time was phenomenal on paper but wasn’t implemented effectively

Not really related to season 8 specifically but the perfect dexter ending in my opinion involves dexter having his life fall apart around him and losing everything in a sorta "walter white/ heisenburg" type of situation. Ive always felt like dexter was more of a problem then a solution to the world so seeing an idea where dexter gets exposed for his crimes and breaks his code, leading to his death wouldve felt more satisfying. (Potential video idea about different dexter show endings?)

I agree with everything you said except the Hannah part. I personally hated that character and felt she was forced feed to the audience. They didn't know what to do with the character so it was never organic to believe the Hannah character. I didn't hate her because the actress was great. In fact she was very stale to me. Pretty much had one facial expression for every emotion. No range whatsoever.. I hated the character because she was not believable. First they make her out to be a poison black widow type in season 7. One worthy of the code and Dexter's table as he could see she liked to kill. To in season 8 a Susie Homemaker that bakes cookies and takes care of the house and children. After just killing her husband because he got on her nerves. No way is Deb allowing her to live in her home, cook breakfast, lunch and dinner after poisoning her twice. No way is Dexter allowing her back into his life after trying to hurt Deb yet again... The character rewrites/retconning of Dexter/Deb of season 8 ep 6 thru. for the Hannah character was too much for me. I knew they were trying for a Hannah spin-off which is why they decided to bring her back. But you could tell it was forced.. I didn't mind the last ep. with and his exit.. Deb's death was the most heartbreaking of all of them on the show for me. Including Rita ( just shocking not sad). Had they left Hannah out of season 8 altogether I'd LOVE it. She is the only thing that messed it up for me.

Why would he not go into exile? He lost all the people he cared for and is a threat to everyone around him because he can't control his dark passenger. Ridiculous to think they could just happily move on. Naive take.
