My daughter is in 4th grade and my absolute favorite thing is her school music performances. She got a solo part in her choir performance and it was the greatest thing to watch!! Makes my heart smile! ❤

Omg you have to watch you tuber Cecilia from Svalbard. It’s an island by the North Pole and they are in polar night right now. Her videos are amazing! Day in the life is so different there and fascinating. I, like you could not handle it tho. I’m in Chicago so we have your daylight times but much colder. Hope you feel better. You make my days better.

Was going to comment about Cecilia! Love her so much (and even read your comment ‘island by the North Pole’ in her voice lol) and totally appreciate how she reframes how special polar night can be despite the darkness.

Oh my goodness, I’ve seen a couple of her videos. She’s fascinating!!!!

January and February can be hard for me! Getting myself an actually super warm cozy jacket (like filled with down and goes to my knees) has helped a bit with getting outside, at least once I get myself out there it makes it easier. I try to have a couple things to look forward to in those months, like visiting my cousin (she's just 2 hours away) or something like that. Really lean into the twinkle lights and candles (even after christmas... hygge!). Kristen LaValley has a newsletter called "wintering" every winter and that is a cozy, encourage read in the dark months.

I love your attitude of leaning into the coziness!

Prayers, friend! I, too, am struggling like never before. Jan/Feb is so tough. I try and get out some, but the cold and dark is oppressive. Day by day....

Day by day for sure. I'm sorry you're struggling too.

I love how the relaxin hormone for you was such a positive thing because for me it was such a negative thing. I had more pain because my joints had more motion. My hands were literally popping in and out of place at my wrists I would be trying to work and my thumb would just pop out of place and it was the most painful thing.
@BlairLamb9 күн бұрын
I think that's more of the normal experience. My sister had to have wrist surgery because her hands were so messed up due to relaxin! It was the one highlight of pregnancy and postpartum as far as symptoms for me!

I know what you mean about SAD. Looking back, I think I've had this since childhood. Not to add to your workload, but if you get a dog, you'll get outside a lot more due to walks, lol😂 But seriously, since having gotten a dog 5 years ago.I'm outside so much more and I've noticed a huge difference in the winter! Investing in warm gear is essential - for the coldest days I have snow pants- game changer! Loving my early mornings of coffee, chores, and Vlogmas❤💚❤️💚

I've had a dog for 11 years 😂 Charley Bear, I'm sure you've seen him in the vlogs. He hates the cold too, so we're sissies inside together haha!!! Thank you for watching!!!

Hi Blair. I heard you talking about the Polar Night and Polar Day. If you would love to see life with that, look up Cecilia Blomdahl. She lives on Svalbard, an island close to the North Pole. They are in Polar Night now so it is dark 24/7 until february I believe, then they have a few 'normal' months and then during late Spring I think they roll into Polar Day. I could never live like that but it is so interesting to see. Lol the Grinch in that parade 😂

I also could not live like that but it really is fascinating!!

Hi Blair. I’d just like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. I have scoliosis also. I wore a brace for awhile in high school. I just now got updated X-rays.i haven’t had X-rays on my back in about 20 plus years. I’m wondering what you do for pain. Do you use a Tens machine or get ultrasound? I hope this isn’t too personal.
@BlairLamb3 күн бұрын
Thank you! I do have a TENS unit. My favorite pain management techniques are exercise (stabilizing the core and strengthening other muscles to prevent injury) and massage.

Hi Blair! I completely understand the struggle of the time change and the darkness. Not sure if you already do but I find taking a vitamin D supplement really helps. On that note I feel the drops work better than a pill. I usually start taking it in late October and take it until beginning of May.
@BlairLamb14 күн бұрын
I need to get back to Vit D supplementation. Thank you for the great suggestion!

I love daylights saving time, it’s the best time of year! I love the cold weather and short days the snow! It’s my favorite! . I get seasonal depression in the summer, I never wanna get up and do things and hate the long sunny days.

Have you ever done yoga? Thinking about your SAD + scoliosis I wonder if yoga can help! I love Yoga with Adriene on KZbin and every January she does a 30 day yoga challenge with one new video per day for all levels of yogis, especially great for beginners. It does wonders for me physically and mentally!

Hey Blair ☺️ I am so sorry to hear you have been having a tough time recently. This time of year (after the clocks change) can be really tough and I am definitely with you and feel it too. The thought of Christmas ahead keeps my spirits up but then Jan-March feel tough again. It’s definitely good to get out during daylight as much as you can🥰🥰 the top your bought for yourself and the jumper for your mum are both gorgeous 😃 the colours are perfect for you both. So glad this group is growing - we love you Blair 😃🥰🥰 take care for now xxxxxxx

I am probably the only person you will ever meet with Reverse Seasonal Depression - the summer depresses me, the heat is so suffocating - the sun is so bright - there’s so much pressure to go outside (which I truly hate anyways) that people think you’re crazy for hating the summer. My kids struggle with sleep during summer and being out of school routine. I crave the cold and dreary days.

I randomly was wondering last week how your scoliosis was doing as you hadn’t mentioned it in so long. Sorry to hear your pain is back. PS. I can not wait to see my 14yo daughter’s face when she digs out her stickers from her stocking. She truly only asked for books this year ❤

I don't personally experience seasonal depression but my sister in law does. She moved from Denver to Seattle and REALLY struggled in Seattle. She ended up getting a sun lamo thingy? Clearly that's not the name of it but it's some type of lamp. Maybe soemthing like that might help you? Keep it up at your office?
@BlairLamb14 күн бұрын
I should totally try those. I think they're pretty much specifically for this issue!! Thanks for sharing!
