Seasons of the Witch Oracles: Mabon, pairings and spreads

I am LOVING the Mabon Oracle art style! I think the artist did a great job of staying true to the overall vibe of the previous decks while also making it their own. I love and appreciate the old art style too but this feels like a lovely evolution! So excited for this one and the others to come 🖤 Thank you for giving us an early look at this gorgeous deck!

I completely agree! The other ones were beautiful but this one is otherworldly! It’s so powerful that even on its own it reads like a wonderful book. I love it, excited for Imbolc too, it’s the same illustrator ❤️

Also...all these pairs are SO GOOD. I especially loved the Forager's Daughter paired with Beltane and the Gentle Tarot with Mabon. You are the queen of pairings and i love it!

Hi Silvia, I really enjoyed the pairings showcasing these lovely decks. I have the Samhain and Yule editions. I've not been quite so sure about the Beltane edition...not clear as to why.....but your discussion of it here helped me be clear on its purpose. I loved the pairing with JJ7. I have that deck so if I do decide to try the Beltane edition, I'll be pairing them for sure. Your spread worked exceptionally well. Such a great video. Thanks so much for sharing the Mabon edition...it is one I'm intending on purchasing once it is released so it was helpful to see it in all it's glory. I like the artwork and the new phrasing at the bottom too. 😁

I was also hesitant on the Beltane edition because I wasn’t feeling the vibe of some of the cards when watching a walk-through video. I decided that any feelings of resistance toward certain cards means I may need to work with that energy. Also, if I really don’t like it, I could just keep that card out of the deck. For example, I just can’t do blood and that Sacrifice card felt to be just too much for me. However, I recently purchased it and am glad I did now.

Oh damn, I’m definitely going to be picking up the mabon one now too 😂. I’ve been telling myself I wasn’t gonna collect all 8 but it’s starting to look like it’s inevitable. I’ve got Samhain and Yule, Beltane has been in my cart for about a month but I just haven’t checked out with it yet. Love murder of crows with Samhain, btw! I don’t have MoC but I’ve paired Darkness of Light with the Samhain oracle, and the energy of both decks matches and vibes with each other very well. I get some intense readings from those two!

Oh Darkness of Light would be perfect for Samhain!! I don’t have it because I want the edition with the white borders but it’s a brilliant combo! Mabon is really special compared to the other ones, you’ll love it ❤️

That Mabon looks stunning, thank you so much for sharing this! I wish they released this deck in accordance to the actual sabbaths though. I also didn't really vibe with the poems so I'm happy that they've changed that

Me too! Like this it feels like there’s less people buying the deck because they’re all over the place. I don’t know, maybe they’re going to be syncing them for the other sabbath 🤷‍♀️

I didn't say this on your previous video, but I also just ignored the little "poem" on all three of the previous decks. Happy to know the change makes the cards more usable and I can read them without feeling taken out, similarly to you. Love this in depth video for the SotW oracles, excited to see your next review too!

Thanks for showing all the cards of the Mabon oracle. I really love the art and the color scheme of it, and I can vibe with the theme of the deck. I don't have any of the other ones because of the art that doesn't really resonate with me. Also I didn't put much effort in getting to know these specific celtic "holidays" (don't know how else to call them😂) so far. Maybe that will change in the near future. I know that the other 3 decks have been translated in to my native language, so I will wait until they have the German version of the Mabon and start with this one. I totally loved the pairing with the gentle tarot 😍this is a deck that means a lot to me. Your spread is great, I can imagine there are a lot of possibilities to work with these decks.

I think they’ve done an exceptional job with Mabon! Everything about it is perfect, the color scheme, the artwork, the keywords and the messages. I would prefer the cardstock to be matte but they kept it glossy so that it can be used together with the other decks. It’s really amazing! I didn’t know they orders had been translated, I might check if they have them in Italian as well 🥰

Thanks for this video, as always very informative! I also pair my Samhain oracle with the Murder of Crows tarot. I am very excited to receive my order of Mabon oracle, I love the new art style and direction they are taking the phrase under the keyword on the cards. I must say I am very disappointed that for an Australian company we will not be receiving them in time for the Mabon season, something I’ve noticed Rockpool keeps doing - prioritising Northern Hemisphere preorders over those of their own country. I understand they are publishing for a lot of US authors, it just feels like less thought is given to their Australian customers. I love how you are using all four oracles in your spread, they look very pretty together with their colourful backs showing!

Thank you 🙏🥰 And I share your disappointment when it comes to Rockpool’s policy of releasing decks in the US first. I’ve had a discussion about that with the girls at the stand but they were not part of the marketing team. For what I can understand 70% of their market share is from the Northern Hemisphere, hence the scheduling of releases. It’s a pity because I feel that they would increase their sales in AU if they showed a bit of a preference for us!

This was great. I avoided buying any of these after seeing walk throughs with the poems on the bottom. I struggled to understand how to read with the keywords for each season so hoped the other text were descriptors. Seeing the changes in the Mabon version is surprising and relieving. Though I feel maybe a bit sad they compromised their vision. But these are mass market decks. I also really love your spread using all four decks. Since I don't own any of them yet i may try it with other oracles.

Hi Sylvia! Love this art style. But not a witch so many of the messages on the cards don't resonate. I've thought about getting the 4 decks and making my own custom one (I had the Samhain and re-homed it for the reasons stated) but you always seem to find excellent pairings with other decks and invent spreads that kind of pull everything together ~ so it really helps me to watch what you do with the cards! Nice demo, I really enjoyed it!

Honestly, I wasn’t in love with the previous three editions but the Mabon made me look at them in a different way 🥰 It’s such a beautiful and moving deck! I highly recommend it ❤️

That would depend on where you’re located. Some countries unfortunately don’t have access to Amazon, but perhaps some bookstores may keep decks in stock. I hope you find them!

After learning the real roots of Mabon, it makes me really uncomfortable that they chose that name and that so many pagans are still using that name. Mabon, is the name of a welsh deity who has nothing to do with the autumn equinox, had his name appropriated for the purpose of wicca

Samhain means the end of summer. Beltane comes from a celtic deity and the others all have similar roots.
