After watching this video, I bought this deck. After working with it for a couple of weeks now all I can say is WOW! This deck is amazing, and I connected with it immediately. Read the book front to back, did some of the spreads in the book, and even a few of my own. This deck is so in point for me. The messages are spot on and sometimes hits hard. I can’t wait for the other decks in the seasons. Love this deck so much! Thanks for sharing your review and video!

Your Haunted Mansion decor always gives me life! Thanks for always having such good reviews, being from South America it requires an investment for me to purchase some of these, and having reviews like yours helps me out immensely. I agree with the lack of diversity, it's a deal breaker for me, I'm afraid, especially when there's been releases in the last year and a half that have witches with a more inclusive representation. Sadly, it seems that gothic art and designs (which I love!) are always depicting people in the same way and it's very difficult to find decks with that vibe that are more inclusive. As a side note, I would also really like to encounter a deck centered on witches that includes elements from different practices around the world, rather than mostly the European traditions, other forms always tend to be relegated to decks about certain deities or folkloric figures. In this case, considering it's a Samhain deck, I understand that, but it got me thinking how interesting a deck that depicts practices from different places of the world would be, maybe because I rarely see the practices I grew up around included. Sorry for the long rambling comment, thank you so much for all your amazing content!

I just got this deck, and I love it! I love diversity in a deck, but in this deck I kind of saw all the women as ghosts or spirits, kind of translucent. In some images they have no legs. Some images look like the ghost of the same woman. At least that’s how I saw it. This narrative of ghosts and spirits makes sense to me since it’s a Samhain deck.

On the topic of diversity, I wish there were more men/more representation of masculine energy in witchy tarot and oracle decks. They are so underrepresented and if I was a guy that would really bother me, because we do need to find ourselves in the cards and I feel like for men that would be really difficult in all female decks. I hear diversity being mentioned a lot but always in regards to ethnicity, men are totally overlooked 😕😔

Im a woman and i totally agree. Only few i see like the tattoo deck / druidcraft and those classic rws types. But when it comes to themed decks , its mostly based on women

I guess because the witch as archetype is about the feminine aspects. Magician is more masculine. I tend to go for classical or gender neutral decks but something about the magical vibe of this oracle I don't mind it being depicted the way it is.

Yeah, way too white for me. Only the "healer" card looks like she could MAYBE be a POC, and you could turn around and argue that the watercolorist made a mistake to get her skin tone that dark. I have too little money to spend on stuff like this; I prefer projects where people were more considerate about the range of people a topic like this one applies to. We're also not all tall thin waifs. -a short fat woman with hair about as long as depicted on a lot of these cards

I don't like frog card but description is even worse, frog represents grief and suppressed anger, not transformation, so I wouldn't be able to use card according to book, and for oracle's i like going by intended book meaning. But there are other beautiful cards, ans some i don't like, I'm just put off by booklet interpretation... Interesting but wouldn't make the priority cut

Regarding diversity... this is a eurocentric theme. I understand a desire to see more diversity but it would be like asking for white people to be added in to an African Goddess deck. Not all that appropriate.

Do you also complain in your asian decks (like the Kitsune one) that there is a lack of diversity? I found it weird that a lot of people would only get upset if a deck was "too white" but if it was like an asian kind of deck it was suddenly okay if everyone was asian and there was 0 diversity.
@baggal21 Жыл бұрын
There’s too much white guilt around. I mean if white people want to get offended on other people’s behalf that’s their prerogative but they won’t be thanked for it.
@Littlemissdirtbag2 жыл бұрын
I think it's ridiculous that people cry and whine about there not being enough diversity in this deck. It looked to me like there were plenty of people from other cultures, such as asians, indians, native americans, hispanic, and brown folks. There are plenty of other diversification factors than just black and white people. This deck is full of people from other cultures and skin colors. If you are talking about there not being enough African americans, that's getting super old. They are just one of many skin colors and cultures. They don't get to be the focal point and the only ones that we concern ourselves with making comfortable. EVERY race, creed, and skin color deserves to be represented. ALL of them. And again, every single one of them is represented here. Men could have been represented in this deck. That's a huge disappointment.
@nunubarrantes87822 жыл бұрын
The deck is beaitiful but not for me. Foil is toxic in a way, it is not environmentally friendly and you end up with tiny metalic particles everywhere, plus imagine the people manufacturing the cards and what they breathe in... then, no diversity, no masculine energy, (unbalanced decks are a pest) same ethnicity, same looks... not very versatile. Sigh. Thanks for sharing!
