Seat frame in a self build ducato / relay / boxer campervan

In this video I show the installation of my seat frame from Solway Camper Conversions and compare with other options and also give an update on my Solway panels now the front section is effectively complete.

Good point about solway panels. I am interested in getting them as I thought it was plug and play plus I found you because you have the same van I am looking at getting.

Your right. Iv just purchased a H3. A H2 is simply to short for me height wise. I started watching your videos because of the solway panels.

Hi Did you bolt the seat to the floor befor pir boarding and latting then fill in the seat floor after or go straight through, im wanting one to go at the back of front passenger seats to join and create a corner sofa

yes, the seat frame is directly on the van floor and the pir board and internal floor goes around it.

Hi there, great videos! given me a lot of help so far. regards your Truma ducting to the side/external wall. i take it with this position and the exhaust heading out the wall you've had no issues? i am siting mine in simalr place and whilst it all seems to be inline with the instructions, i wanted to get opinions before i cut holes in the wall.

So did you order the H2 pillar covers ? as they don’t do pillar covers for H3 which is what I have. Also was it difficult to make them fit ?? Many thanks Gary H.

Hi there. I was thinking about the Solway panels and found your video. I too have the H3. Unfortunately Solway have not taken your sound advice. I have bonded windows so I don't think there gonna work for me. I may just get the bits near the seat belt and the botton curved section. Thanks for the vid as I couldn't find any other info regards fitting.

glad it was helpful. you can order individual panels from solway direct or through magnum motorhomes. the parts around the bulkhead are well worth it for sure. I actually would use again but be more 'precise' about which panels i wanted rather than buy the complete kit.

I guess they didn't like the truth. Sol way is expensive, and so did not fit correctly otherwise there would be no need for corrections. 🤔 Great vid s keep it up. 🍺🍺✌️🇬🇧

I think so and that is why they don't have fitment videos on their website, however, in their defence, the end result is good and in my opinion worth the effort and hassle.

Is it possible to position the seat a bit further forward or does the fitment under the van not allow it. I want similar but less space between driver and seats behind. Also, could you not just have used the original bench seat in that position.

Thank you for your comment. Actually I had trouble with the seat frame and the chassis member underneath because it is so far back, if bought forward it will clear the chassis and fitment is easier. The reason for the seat so far back is for a table we want that is coming soon in a video. the original seat from the front posed too many seatbelt mounting issues and height issues to be tangible. I guess a good metalwork fabricator could overcome these things but very much outside of my skill sets.

Funnily enough, No! I use to work for Sony and now self employed in nothing related to vans or engineering. I just believe very very strongly that anyone can do anything they want if they put their mind to it. Leant that from intently watching someone plaster a wall thinking is was a 'hidden art' and finding it was actually very easy and no, I'm not a plasterer either :-)

I’ll like to sell our current van and get the Fiat Ducato L4H3 for day and weekend use. Am still waiting for the overhead cabinets video so I can see how you have done it 😊

Well spotted! I have filmed it all, just fitting the tambour door when a break in the weather and will then compile it all together. will probably be 3 or 4 parts as don't suspect anybody wants a james bond length instalment to watch. :-)

Actually you're about the only video explaining anything about the Solway panels ..I've my panels coming on Monday and Jimmy actually pointed me towards your video. I've the h2 l3 so I'm wondering if the panel actually fits properly..🤔 I'll let you know!! I'm going to have the same issue as yourself with the front off side window, what did you do about the gap in the end?

I am very surprised to hear Jimmy pointing towards my video, after somewhat slating them unless he is pointing from a derogatory angle? I can imagine the " this guy is doing it all wrong so watch and don't do what he done....blah blah" anyway, on the gap front I have ordered something from Reimo but has not arrived yet, will video it when it comes and see how it fits.

Sounds to me like your trying to please Solway! To me there way to expensive! And didnt fit well! Just be honest at least that way Solway cant sort out there issues!
