In Switzerland, we indeed have the 2.8L Cupra 4 with a Compressor, but they are very rare and expensive, there are currently selling for around 25k and there are still shooting up in value

Despite the fact is almost 23 years old, still looks modern. The front of Leon 1m is timeless, the entire body actually Is just clean, as many other cars from that era. Look sick with 18" coilovers and honeycomb grills. Back when cars had personality and true drive feelings... Modern car are so anonymous. I'd take this over those boring and heavy new cars a thousand times over...

Running the 225 version, the k04 turbo is a lot more aggressive. She runs 300 right now. Absolutely love the car. Great daily

Although the 20V 1,8L is specifically reliable, it’s not a rarity for newer cars to have their power at 300k km. You have to threat them well is all

250 on the clock yes. Also notorious for over reading speed in the vw clocks. 250clock maybe 230 gps of youre lucky

thats not too impressive considering them old type r or vtec hondas still make naturally aspirated 200hp or more revving out to 8000rpm still to this day with well over 350k km there is definitely a little power loss with loss of compression which is important for a high lift cam to actually perform. oddly enough my friends e36 328i has 220k miles on it (354k kn) and that thing is still his daily somehow but vanos doesnt work which isnt surprising lol

I bought one of these a few months back and had some fun in it. I've owned Clio 182s, a WRX, a 325i, an MX5, a MK4 Golf GTI, a Saxo VTS, 206 GTI in the past before but this felt more of a complete all round performance cars than those and nearly as fun. The performance always impressed, and it upset other so called performance cars on a regular basis. Fuel economy was dreadful though!

The 1.8T with 4WD was the unicorn under the Seat Leon 1M's. Way more tunable than the VR6 and with the added benefits of the turbocharged 20 valve engine 👍

I had an even more obscure version of these 1.8T 20v variants which was the Octavia mk1 VRs, mine was quite a bit modified with around 280whp (swapped turbo, IC, intake etc) lots of fun in that car.

nice vid on a nice and underrated car, GG a buddy of mine got the 2.8 Cupra 4 (for being 4x4), I think if I remember correctly; that model was the first Leon with Cupra badge, available already pretty early on release of the Leon. He had the Ibiza Cupra before that, also a riot to drive. The Cupra 4 was just a spaceship to me, I didnt dare to really give it the beans.. this was in a time where anything over 200HP was considered serious power (and serious money thanks to Dutch double taxing on cars).

This was NEVER called the Leon 20VT!!! Back in the day the Leon was the first ever compact car to have a six-peed manual gearbox in Mexico and that alone made it unique . Later Seat gave the Leon a turbo and in some countries called it the Leon Sport the first years of it´s production and in it´s last years of production they called it the Leon FR. It generated 180hp and in some countries the Golf GTI had the weak 2.0 NA 115hp, the GTI Turbo generated 150hp in it´s first years and later the same 180hp just like the Leon Sport/FR but the Leon had 6 gears and much better looks and overall performance. Then Seat came with a sportier version of the Leon with the same turbo 1.8 20 valve engine but with a little over 200hp called the Leon Cupra R

Spanish know how to do hot things!!! This is more sharper than any conservative Deutsch Made Golf! Not every Golf 4 was woth 150HP (AGU). There were 180 HP modifications also (USA Models). MK4 GTI is not very loved car, but MK4 R32 was the best R32 model IMHO. This car is in a same league as Audi S3 of that era.
