The golf r looks like the regular Golf and VAG will never let Seat be faster than their own. But at least the Cupra R makes it known to everyone that “I’m the real R” 🤪

I think the cheaper VWs look nicer than the cheaper SEATs but who cares about the cheaper cars? Lol. When you get into the decent cars then SEAT win on all counts.

very sharp and smart videos packed with action, only autocar channel, steve sutcliffe and chris harris can keep up with you amongst matt prior and a few more racing licenced car journalists. as a part time winter driver sim driving car loonatic i am staggered of the fact that someone bothers to make such epic content and give undiluted presentation. personally i prefer old cars with narrow tires, great pressure per square inch and therefore mechanical grip in everyweather and variable sicumstances and therefore i would take a seat over 2018 type r civic . it has 245 section tires all round which are as wide as the rear tires of an e34 m5 back in the day, dare i say modern cars have too much the wif of Nring about them, quite single minded in very many aspects, and brutally effective in the hands of novice drivers

Instead of just using Cupra mode, use individual, set everything to Cupra and the suspension to Comfort, best of both worlds! Also got to remember the Golf doesnt come with adaptive suspension as standard, so when cycling through driving modes in them nothing in the suspension changes! The Leon's adaptive shocks in comfort mode rides waaaaay better than the Golfs fixed shocks!

I own the 317 version with 310PS. The motor is also the same as the Audi s3.

I tossed between the Golf R and the Cupra before realising the R is a bit too numb. Mine is DSG so would love a go in a manual one. Definitely a more meaty sound to the Cupra R than the 300, I had a res delete on mine which I have a video on but theres something different about this. Proper bit of car but I dont think they will often be driven like they should be (sid style) in this country sadly, too expensive and collectable

You can get it in dsg but i think in the uk is only manual but in total there are 300 DSG 499 Manual i got a DSG one! :P nice video

There is a DSG version with the older 6 speed rather than the VW group's 7 speed but that has 296hp instead 306hp because the 6 speed can't handle the extra power/torque. It also has had is camber tweaked and it's track widened so it's more of a GTI TCR rival than a Golf R rival.

Give me a Leon cupra R or a golf R?it’s the cupra R all day long, I’ve had 4 Leon FRs x2 st versions, something seriously bad would have to happen for me to change away from seat . Brilliant cars

Don't understand the Golf R comparison. It is a GTI Clubsport (S)/TCR rival, most of the underpinnings of the CS but with rear seats.

It's pretty much got the Golf R engine inside. It shares the engine with the R, S3 and TTS, that's why it's compared to the R all the time. It just doesn't have the 4WD system so it gets beat off the line all the time by those cars. Have a rolling race and the Cupra will more than likely win because it's lighter.

Still the GTI Clubsport S is much closer, matching FWD (important), same engine and power, the only MQB performance cars with bespoke suspension parts and exhaust, manual with short shift, similar weight, both limited production, 0,1s between them on Hockenheim Short Supertest. Only big difference is the rear seat.

I’ve currently got a seat Ibiza just 1.4 nothing fancy for my first car, I’m currently looking for my next car and want to stick with seat, I’m torn between the ibiza cupra, bocanegra or the Leon FR, anybody who knows a lot about these cars that can help me decide?

Keep away from the Boc in my opinion, they’re just disasters in terms of reliability. Ibiza Cupras with the 1.4 DSG are mostly a gamble so look at the 1.8 manual ones even then they’re not known for their dynamics. Leon FR is the one to get if you care about corners more than straight line grunt but they’re considerably slower than the 1.8T at higher speeds

My 2015 Cupra 280 St dsg differential is broken. JCT600 are saying its a sealed unit in the diff that needs replacing and it shouldnt fail so the sealed unit had to come from Spain. Im waiting for Seat UK to contact me i hope they can help me out

KING0SISQO yeah that’s the one. So the presenters statement saying the Cupra doesn’t have the top end of the civic is untrue. Obviously depends a bit on drivers, gear changes etc etc

Karl Blower all that is in to play. But the type r has more torque and lighter on paper. So it’s no wonder it has a strong start. Which leads me to believe it runs out of huff at the top end before a cupra. Or it has more power than stated...which is not uncommon for a vag car.

Seems like the ps cup2 are optional depending on the country market. And typical weather. In Spain, these tires are standard.

Why? In what way does it need comparing? The cupra r is a competitor to an s3, type r and golf r. The i30n is 308 gti,golf gti, focus st segment. On paper they don’t sound too far apart but seeing that half a second to a second difference in reality sets them apart in comparisons for a reason.
