Hi everyone, this is just a simple walkaround review of the brilliant little Seat Mii which shares the same as the VW Volkswagen E-up and the Skoda Citigo
This is the later version with the 36.8kWh battery (of which 32.3 is useable) which is a big battery for such a small EV. Earlier versions had the smaller battery.
It s afun little car, some great features, good spec, lots of airbags and is brilliant for city life. It is also refined on the motorway but thats where electric cars can suffer from efficiency. We know around town it can achieve over 7 miles per Kwh making it the most efficienct car we've ever tested, but what's it worst case real world range going to be?

I offer you two reasons why they stopped.. 1. They didn't want to cannibalise the market for their ICE cars. 2. It's likely partly hand built without a proper assembly line and thus they'll have lost money on each one that sold. It's basically there to demonstrate they're trying.

I have had a Mii Electric for about 18 months and have piled on about 12,000 miles of mixed driving around town and a few longer trips from York to London. I wish the charging rate was better than the (on average) 25kW to 20kW. I usually run down to about 25% to 20% of the full charge and top up to around 80%, when on the longer trips; the charging takes around 30 minutes. I have found the optimum speed of motorway travel is 60 mph, with a bit of 30mph around the start and end of the journey gives me an average of 6.4 miles/kWh. I think this is excellent! It is SO reminiscent of my old Mini Cooper (1071cc) back in the 70's, Flingable around smaller roads, corners really well and has very similar performance. Even the back windows open the same way as the old Mini! Consumption is very similar on range before 'topping up'. With a 5+ gallon tank (really - that small) and around 35-37 mpg, it was necessary to fill up often, every 150+ miles or so. The Mii is much the same. About the same power (60kW motor) range and handling. All of the cramped fun and inappropriate seating for long distances and charging at home at 28p/kWh or less if I get solar panels. My average consumption for the full distance 12,000m covered is 5.5 miles/kWh, which means I have paid 12000/5.5 = 2182 kWh @ 0.28p = £611. Some of the time I have charged at expensive public chargers, so bump that up to say, £750.... I think this is rather good; also NO maintenance needed. Using the old Mini as a comparison with todays fuel prices, we would have 12000/36 mpg = 334 gallons. Fuel presently £1.47 a litre and 4.54 litres per gallon = 1.47 x 4.54 = £6.68 per gallon (UK) x 334 = £2,231.00. Honestly, what is not to love? Great video Richard! I enjoyed it lots. Looking forward to some more!

The side +/- allow you to change the regen level from D (1) to (3). B is basically the 4th level and it's pretty good for what it is, not one pedal driving but just about there. I absolutely love my older Citigo EV which I've donated to my parents and drive every once in a while, it's a dinky little fun car that surprises you in many ways. My main car, the MG4 is quicker, bigger and has more range but I genuinely have more fun in the Citigo (same car as the Mii and the e-up!). And so economical, it blows anything else out in the water.

Just taken our Mii to London and back from Bournemouth, gave it a 18kwh top up just off the M4 in London. (Heston services) stats for the way up, 125miles, used about 75%, showed 5.5miles/kwh, with a range of 55miles left at the services, so maybe 180mile real range, including some motorway speed! Would say its much better in the city, so nippy, easy to park as so small, but like your test showed over 5mile/kwh average for the journey! yes, its a basic car, but is great, especially as a 2nd car! Yes the + and - adjust the regen level when in D mode. Auto lights and wipers as standard. Maximum charge speed is only 38kwh I think, I got 33kwh on the Gridserve at 29% battery as displayed on charger.

Really underestimated car. I have an vw eup as a second car and it’s much more practical than you’d first think. Drives well, more space than you’d think from looking at it and although basic in many ways it has heated seats, lane assist, parking sensors and quite possibly the smallest reversing camera display I’ve ever seen (but it works). Great little car than quite often gets chosen over our main family car. We have even taken it on longer journeys such as from Manchester to Ireland - because of its efficiency it actually performed really well. Most who have been in it comment about how nippy it is and that it’s more roomy than they expected.

We have this car as second family car since E2020. In summer absolutely amazing. Even though the highway sweet spot is 100-110 km/h (60-65 mph). Higher than that and the consumption goes up like a rocket. Winter is the real downside of this car. The heating system is very old school and it seems to have a V8 4.0L as efficiency 😂 so when I was driving alone I would have driven without heating to keep the situation under control. In a nutshell, for the leasing rate we got at that time, it was an easy decision ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Hi Richard, I've been watching your superb videos as I gear up for my first EV purchase - probably for my 75th. There's one important aspect you have not covered in all the episodes I have watched, and I suspect I know why. Yup, insurance. Obviously you cannot give guidance for individual drivers but knowing the insurance groups would be very helpful. If that's not on perhaps a more generalised episode on insurers views on EVs would not go amiss. So far I have only seen one UK channel cover this subject and I think it is one that does need tackling. There's a lot of cost offsets available with EVs so maybe it could be done in that light. At my age I'd be home charging and would get around 150 to 200 miles range on a single overnight charge for the grand total of £4.50. My current car can get about 420 miles on a tank full at not far short of £100. I once had a pre-owned Audi allroad that cost me £500 per corner in new air suspension bags so I can put EV costs into context. So can others. Cheers.

Have one for commuting now for just one a year and totally love it! Perfect for inner-city driving and parking. And while it might not be the fastest EV to get to motorway speed, it's certainly not slow. Especially not accelerating from 0-50 km/h / 0-31 mp/h which it does in 3.9 seconds. See a free spot at a roundabout? It's yours! It's fun and nimble and there are very few non-EV cars that will beat this sub-urban ninja magic carpet ride if they're not paying full attention. LOL. Works perfect for my daily 80 km round-trip to work (40%city /60% highway ). Cold weather? It starts without a single sign of protest. Above 100 km/h it starts to clearly become less efficient due to it's shape, but in summer, with air-conditioning on I've seen it hit good consumption levels of around 11,9 kWh/100 km when cruising at 100 km/h.

I own one of these, my first EV. It's a great little car. Only complaints I have are the lack of a numerical battery state of charge displayed as percent. Also, if the rapid charging was able to take 100kW, it would make longer journeys just that little bit more straightforward.

You never know they could bring back the E Up! With a 40kwh battery and 50kw DC with a flat charging curve so it doesn't slow down until 85-90 % as most chargers in my area are still 50kw CCS/chademo. 10%-90% in 30 minutes off of a 50kw charger would be ample and at 5m/kWh you'd get genuine 200 miles !

@@oliverskinner8962 I live in hope that increasing volume of EVs leads to some tuning shops specialising in modifying older EVs to add better battery chemistries, faster charging, and improved information on in car displays. There are a couple of chargers on my longer routes which are now over 150kW, so being limited to 40kW (realistically just 29kW average from 10-80%) can add a bit of extra time on to a journey.

We have had one of these for 2 years along with a Tesla and I absolutely enjoy to drive this little gocart as well. 🚙 😀It would have been nice to have anti spin on it, as it easyli makes wheel spin when accelerating a bit hard. The traditional key ignition, gear selector (why not always allow you to have regen on without selecting it?) and the manual handbrake is a bit annoying though. Ands it goes into eco and eco+ mode when you still have plenty of distance left. At lower range you cannot turn eco and eco+ off again, which makes it quite annoying in winter time to drive as you have no heating on in eco+. Also the range in winter time is half the range of summer time, so we only get like 100 km range when it's cold. The trunk is quite nice. It has a lower level, a middle level with a removable separator and the upper level, so you can hide cables and stuff out of the way.

I have told everyone who cares the e-Up,Mii & Citigo are brilliantly efficient EVs. Test drive both the former 2 years ago. (I own the petrol VW Up). Refined, very nippy, but I could not believe the efficiency. 4.5 mi/kWh on a cold winter rainy day. Utterly bizarrely, Skoda had stopped producing theirs at that time. VW also had stopped production. And Seat were saying they were not going to producing any more. WTF?! For a properly budget EV city car it is brilliant. And perfect for someone like my elderly Dad as cabin so “normal” with no screens everywhere and a normal auto shifter and handbrake.

Yes, but do you *believe* the car's estimation of the m/kwh efficiency? I've had the Mii for 600 miles now. the dash, and the App tell me it has averaged 6.2 m/kwh. My own calculation of actual kwhs charged up against miles driven come out at 4.8 m/kwh. The longest trip I did, and charged up afterwards, worked out at 5.2 m/kwh. I think the fuel gauge gives a better sense of the range, and efficiency: It has 16 segments marked off, and you can drive it such that each segment will give 10 miles, total 160, average exactly 5 m/kwh. That's reasonable. It's just irritating that Seat/VW can't get it accurate in the software.

This video of the Mii isn’t about which is buy though. It’s just that the Mii is pretty darn good little runaround and it feels brand new at £15k! For that money, i also like the ioniq’s 👍

£15k for an electric vw up? 🤣 Would take a £12k Renault zoe over that without a doubt

For that price you get a lower range zoe or one thats comes with battery leasing. Or a much older car and more ineficient by long far.

@@sergigorchs7329 I paid just over £10k for my ZE50 Zoe from 2020 which does 200-250 miles on one change and is a luxury compared to this

Absolutely correct. Lease deals are the answer, very cheap if you fill up at home.
