How come you guys make such amazing and excellent kayaks? Better than anything in North America.

Must be something in the water... 😜 We are quite lucky to have a variety of world-class sea kayaking spots all within a reasonable drive here in the UK!

Must I remove the Connect seat to re-tighten the hip pads? I was able to flip the buckle up to loosen them to remove a shim but its impossible to tighten them. I can't seem to do it with the buckle visible, but reaching behind to grasp and pull the strap is impossible.
@PHSeaKayaks5 ай бұрын
No need to remove the seat! Make sure you're working across the kayak (i.e. stand on the left to access the RHS hip pad, and vice versa), and then push the strap through as far as you can from the back of the seat, before reaching in from the front to grab and pull it tight. The space is a little tight, but it should be doable - if not, consider enlisting the help of someone with smaller hands, or using a pair of pliers or similar.

does moving the seat to the back in a scorpio HV mk11 destabalise the kayak,thanks
@PHSeaKayaksАй бұрын
It depends on various factors, but in all likelihood it will make little to no difference to the stability. If anything, it may increase the stability slightly as the widest point of the kayak occurs just behind the cockpit.

I have a new Volan 160. The Connect seat makes the center of gravity to high. Plus my thighs are in the braces while legs are straight. How can I loosin up in the cockpit ?
@PHSeaKayaks Жыл бұрын
Have you tried loosening off the backrest/footrests, and perhaps removing the hip pads? You could also swap the Connect seat for a Performance seat, which is more open at the hips and rises a little less towards the front.

I have a Virgo and I find the back rest a waste of time. The shape of the seat means you are sitting quite a bit forward from the backrest and so for it to have any effect, you need to tighten it with the strap. If you exit the boat at sea, you’ll be squashing the backrest when you re-enter ....any tips ? What am I doing wrong ?
@PHSeaKayaks3 жыл бұрын
We'd certainly recommend adjusting the bungees to hold it in place a little better when you-re re-entering the boat; if the backrest is quite tight though, then it will likely get in your way as you re-enter. Best to primarily focus on core strength to maintain an upright posture and have the backrest a little looser for additional support in rougher conditions or to lean back against if you're relaxing for a moment. Having the backrest looser will also mean your core is more free to rotate for a more efficient paddling technique. If you feel you need more adjustment in the backrest, you could always upgrade it to a ratchet one, then you can tighten it up when you're in the boat, but slacken it off when exiting so it's a little more out of the way. Upgrade kits for this are available to order through our dealer network.

Speaking of the Virgo, is there a way to replace the stock seat? It's much shorter (front to back) than my Wilderness Systems seat. As a result, there's zero support under my thighs, and I think it's pushing into the back of my leg, causing pain and my foot to go numb. Love the boat, but paddling it's a chore because it's uncomfortable.

Very similar to the seat in my Easky 17. My back band broke and I ordered a replacement from Immersion Research. After seeing this video I think the connect back band would have worked.

There will be similarities - the Easky was also made by us, for a time under the P&H brand, and then under the Venture Kayaks brand... same factory, materials, and staff in either case :)

I have a 1995 p&H Orion boat I recently bought and would like to upgrade the seat as I suffer with lower back pain using the original fitted one. Do you have one that would fit your older boats?
@PHSeaKayaks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, if your Orion has an ocean cockpit, then nothing else will fit - if it's the larger cockpit, then you could fit a backrest if none is present, but the only seat possibility is the one fitted - email us some photos of the cockpit and seat if you like and we can confirm: help@phseakayaks.com

How wide is the seat? I was thinking of a Cetus HV I was told they're 16" wide.
@PHSeaKayaks2 жыл бұрын
The Cetus HV Connect Seat is the widest, measuring approx. 45cm at the hips (without the hip pads fitted).

Yes, you can replace the backrest on its own, but it will need the rivet holding the original to be drilled out and then replaced :)
