Erik, you offer an extremely valuable service to those of us who are not to proud to admit that "we do not know everyting" you do this in spite of public criticism, You Tube red tape and in between your own busy home, work and pro shooting constraints, I personally cannot thank you enough and i pray that you find the time to produce a book so that myself, my children and future generations can benefit from your easily digestible instruction style and no nonsense "pure gold" wealth of knowledge.

On the kinetic bullet puller you can also use the 3 piece collet after you pull the first bullet, just put the bullet up against the mouth of the pulled case and slide the collet onto the round needed to be pulled. The collet will work both ways. I don’t like to use the shell holder trick if I have high primers that need to be pulled.

I just found your channel, and glad I did. Got into reloading about twenty five years ago, and a friend gave me like ten to fifteen years of Precision Reloading (I Think) it was the benchrest magazine of the day. Retired now and have the time to get back into the hobby. You are doing Wonderful work here! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos! Love all your videos. My attitude is that there is no such thing as bad info. Just sometimes inaccurate info. I only hunt but everyone loves accuracy. 1 other thing about the bullet puller and shell holder trick. I discovered it back in the late 70s after losing a piece of the rubber band setup (which used to be a keyring setup) anyway another trick to save the bullets is to glue a foam earplug in the bottom. Works great especially for lead tipped hunting bullets. Keep up the good work.

@michaeltaylor74362 жыл бұрын
Erik, I caught your comment about the Hornady camlock bullet puller. I have used a hammer type bullet puller, but often the bullet bounces up and is cut by the mouth of the brass. The hammer is also pretty useless for small bullets like 17 or 20 calibers, even some 22s, as the weight is too low, not enough momentum. Once I learned how to set up the Hornady, it is faster and does not damage bullets. A couple tips: #1 Clean the bullet with 90% rubbing alcohol or acetone to give a good grasp of the bullet. Then you need only light to firm pressure on the lever to clamp the bullet. If you let the bullet slip, it scratches and ruins it, so first clean it! Also, clean the collet. These solvents dry fast and do not leave any oily residue. #2 After the bullet comes out, push up on it, it will then release out of the collet and fall in your hand. #3 If there is not much flat bearing surface showing on the bullet, you will not be able to get a good clamp on it. For example, like the deep seated 204 Hornady factory cartridge. The minimum is at least 0.060", maybe 0.100". Eric, your interviews with Jack Neary, and other great shooters have been fantastic! Thanks so much.

I reloaded ammo when my kids were young, they all wanted to help, I had one knocking out primers and one seating primers I had another one measuring out the powder and then I would pour the powder in then another one would do the seating of the bullet. Teaching responsible gun ownership, I feel is one of the most important things other than Jesus Christ that we can teach our children, love your videos, keep up the good work and good luck on your next competition

Good luck and have fun at your PRS match, Erik! I used your load development procedure today. 6BR rifle that I was getting decent groups at 100 yd. but not at 200. So I worked on the powder charge last weekend and got my best ES at 28gr. Varget. This weekend I worked on seating depth and had 3 consecutive loads that agged at .150" @ 100 yds. on a windy afternoon. Next weekend loading 15 rounds and shooting 3ea. 5 shot groups @ 200. Feeling very confident that your method has me on the right course. Thank you for your videos!!

Hi Erick..I use the Collet puller did exactly what you did .You were saying about the ring on the bullet etc..Did something different..Say for instance you wanted to pull a .243 freedom seed now you take that .243 Collet it did leave marks on my bullet that I didn't like..So what I did I went 1 step collet up..Took a .25 collet grabbed that bullet perfect with out damaging it.

Two tips. The shell holder with the inertial puller, and calipers to measure the resizing die, absolutely wonderful. Here's one you probably haven't heard. If I had your gun, your rest, and your ammo, I still couldn't shoot your groups.

New intro is sweet, keep it up! I still crimp, but out of habit. I picked up some new Lapua brass and next week will load some up with and without crimp and would be surprised if I don't change my program. I have been resizing with an expander die and bought a micrometer to do some measurements for ordering bushings and a Redding die, it will be interesting to see what difference that makes on the chrono and paper. I have seen some people use the bushing and then a smaller expander just in the hope of smoothing out any concentricity issues but it doesn't look like you do. I'll try with just the redding type S and compare that to the normal full size with expander and let the data decide what is right.

Eric, I'm really learning a lot of new things from your vlogs, even though I've been reloading since the mid 60's. Started with working up loads for my new 22-250, and having some friendly competition with my military friends. 5 in a dime was the group size we sought to attain back then at a mere 100 yards!!! Recently have adopted some of your "advanced procedures" and am finding them very helpful. Bullet concentricity has become an issue recently on one of my calibers. (since I acquired that piece of test equipment). .010-.015 runout seems a bit much. I'm curious as to which seating dies (manufacturer) you are using or would recommend for me to use on my RCBS "Rock Chucker" press?? Keep the great videos coming....I'm very appreciative of your knowledge.

I have reloaded now for nearly 50 years. I really hate not having primers or bullets on the shelves to buy. I used to be a machinist and measured many things in thousandths or 10 thousandths of an inch. When you spend years doing things like that and when one understands internal ballistics, "chasing accuracy" becomes an addiction. I enjoy your videos very much. I never had equipment like you use, but I would have liked it. I have NEVER shot 1000 yards. My hat is off to you.
