Most games fall on a weekday, and since they can’t project who will win, they can’t sell the tickets far in advance for people to buy them. Most tickets are sold in the span of like 6 days which isn’t great.

It’s pretty real. The winner qualifies for the club World Cup which will play against large teams like Madrid every four years.

They qualify for Concacaf Champions League (winner in tournament proper, second and third in the qualifying round), where if they win they get to play in the Club World Cup. And CCL is the tournament Liga MX clubs take seriously, so much so that only the Sounders have won the modern version. Anyway, we know Concacaf is very amenable to bribery, and my guess is MLS sent some of their Apple TV money to them in return for those slots.

I don't know if this is really meaningless, I mean, it's CONCACAF official title, qualifies to the Concachampions and champion goes to play the new Interamericana Cup, against Concachampions, Libertadores and Sudamericana champions. Looks meaningless because the timing, also calendar and format don't help to that.

The problem is that we're not ready or reliably good against teams at home or abroad. The longer we're in this tournament, the more our management thinks we don't have clear problems. Stop the season! Time out for the Leagues Cup! Three teams in each group; two of them from MLS, one from Liga MX. Which means as the tournament progresses, more and more matches are between MLS teams. It's like the MLS exhibition playoffs weeks before the actual MLS playoffs, with Liga MX tossed in to spice things up. A stupid pointless, meaningless distraction.
