Part japanese, can confirm. You use it in many things like soup (e.g. Miso), sushi, onigiri and even just a snack, it's quite healthy and tastes good. Though do note the nori used in soup or in udon or ramen is different from the one used for sushi or onigrir. Also you have the sushi and onigiri ones as a snack not the soup ones.

To calculate the gross profit you just take your total sales and deduct the COGS (cost of goods sold). While overhead is just things to make the production keep going, administrative and production. sort of but still not entirely correct but I don't blame her.
