Relive Sebastian Giovinco's record setting season, as Seba records 20 goals and 15 assist thus far in the season.

I still miss him at Juve but I am glad he found his stage and everyone gets to see what he's capable of. Arsenal and Barcelona were strongly linked with him but the MSL really needed a star like him to take off.

Nah i personally dont like the MLS, Its a league you go to when youre the end of youre career. I respect that their has a growing supporter culture. But its not even close to Ultras for example in sweden , where i live.

I too was very skeptical about this very young league. It's remarkable how it's coming together and how fast it's growing. Sebastian will be one of many players that will come from all over the world to play here.

He couldn't fit in the 3 5 2 he isn't really a striker he was a boss in Parma and in his first stint at juve as an attacking mid and was labeled as del pieros successor, unfortunately that didn't happened, but Giovinco isn't some random European player that couldn't hack it, he was and still is one of Italy's most creative players

Are you seriously comparing a 20-year-old league to one that's been around for decades? Lmao. By the way, MLS was just ranked the 10th best league in the world. Not bad for a league that's only 20 years old. America has the best leagues in the world and Europeans can only say a few of their soccer leagues are better. They're so scared about The MLS getting better and growing that it's hilarious. MLS is growing fast and the quality is growing very rapidly. Suck it up because MLS is going to be a top 5 league in the world very soon.

Giovinco is super-skilled but he's not assisted by his physical characteristics: he's way too small and lightweight to play in Italy in a top team, where he was constantly surmounted by the strong and aggressive Italian defenses, he always had to keep distance from them, in order to play the ball, sometimes stepping his fellows midfielders or wingers toes.
@Harlock2day8 жыл бұрын
You are talking rubbish, Giovinco did great for Parma but at Juve they just took advantage of his patience and never got to play with any regularity. Still here is in the National team and wears the number 10. Height is not a problem, italian couches old menthality is, the prefer foreign players. Giovinco at 24 was still thought too young, rubbish. In the end Arsenal really wanted him but I think he made the right choice.
@MathewGeorge19896 жыл бұрын
That's rubbish. He had his chances at Juve. I remember rooting for him so hard as he came up the Academy. The reality was he could be bullied off the ball way too easily and offered nothing aerially. His technique was never in question, but he was also a tactical liability as he couldn't be offer something up front in keeping the shape when his team was not in possession. He had to have the freedom to roam. Playing as an inside forward in a 4-3-3 was the only choice and the only time he shined for Parma. At Empoli, he was still coming through as a talent. Playing 4-3-3, not really formation favoured in Italy where wide men really struggle, means compromising the rest of the lineup. He had his chances. He wasn't meant to succeed at Juve and that broke his heart. I feel for him, but that's the truth. Look at Dybala now.

money well spent from TFC, getting a primed giovinco that is still good to play in europe.

Ok, Giovinco is a good player, but...Houst...ahem, Toronto, we have a problem! Maybe in U.S.A. the rules are different from Europe and the assists are counted in another way...really, I don't know.

You realize that MLS is only 20 years old right? MLS has improved so much in just the last few years. It was just ranked the 10th best league in the world. MLS is a legit league and it's only getting better. Plus soccer is the major sport across Europe and barely has any competition from any other sport. MLS competes against the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL for athletes. Soccer is growing exponentially in the U.S. and MLS is becoming big. I guarantee 10 years from now it'll be a top 5 league in the world.
@tomeboaventura90548 жыл бұрын
+Bryan H. 10th best in the world? Thats a plain joke. Whats your source? I'm sorry to disappoint you but the MLS doest rank in the top 40...
@gilmai8 жыл бұрын
Well, that depends on what metric you want to use. By attendance: 7th in 2015. By average player salary: 22nd in 2014. Ranking by quality of play is highly subjective. One attempt at an objective metric used by SB Nation takes the players on World Cup Qualifying teams of the top 5O national teams by ELO rank and assigns those players a value based on their nations ELO rank. That value is then credited to the league a players club plays for. By that metric, the MLS is 12 in the world, up from 24 in 2010. But no matter what metric you use, the MLS is growing fast, the US is by far the biggest sports market in the world. As the MLS increases market share, that money will translate into a better league. When or if the MLS will ever catch the big European leagues, no one knows. But if it can sustain this rate of growth, Bryan may just be right. Ten years to pass Mexico, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Portugal, and Netherlands. The tricky one is France. All that would leave is the big 4, but they are in a league of their own.
