I come from another region in Russia where it goes down to -40 (but not so common) and sometimes we do hear stories when people die like this on the road. It's especially dangerous to be on the road when there is a snowstorm - if you lose your way (b/c in the snowstorm you can't see the road any more) and run out of fuel - a sure route to death. There's one story that I remember well when a family with 2 kids (an infant and a toddler i think) got stuck in the snow. The husband left his wife and the infant in the car and went to look for the road to the village or some help (the distance between those villages was very small, like a few km). But him and the child got lost in the snow and froze to death and the wife froze to death inside the car. The infant was found placed on the dashboard, b/c it was the warmest place.

Aren’t most Russians of Europe decent? Decedents of Eastern Europe? Also, are the rivers in Moscow always frozen during Winter, and how many inches of snowfall each week? 2 feet of snow on average? I seen the river frozen from Google images, and it looks like you can easily ice fish on it.

Actually, before the Yakuts, native here were the Evenks (and other small groups, mostly in the north). They all still exist. Languages is so different that people cant understand each other. P. S. In the north, a long ago, legends say that here were exist a huge tribe, who can compare to the Yakut population. But when the russians came and contact with them, the european sickness is spread out into people (those people lived in big groups). They all were dead by that cancer. Im repeat: its a legend. But locals truly believe this story (almost more than 400 years ago)

@@astrid8433 normally, "real summer" begins in late May and lasts till early September. Average temperature is from +21 to +23 °C, with about 2 - 3 weeks of real hot time of over 30°C... Some summers happen to be cooler than others. And overall nowadays, because of climate change, winters become less harsh and summers less hot, than it was in 80s, for example. There are strong winds sometimes, which were nonexistent in the last century. (I am talking about the area I live in, which is Krasnoyarsk territory. A few hundreds kilometers to the north or south, or even west or east, could be different.)

I live in Russia. Not in Oymyakon or Yakutsk, but here in my town -30 -35 is normal temperature during the winter. And i'll say that this is a huge pain in the ass to start your car in -25 or below. Especially with diesel engine. The oil becomes so dence that starter barely can rotate the engine and the battery dies very quickley so you have only few attempts. Usually in places like this people install in their cars "Webasto" - a tiny auxiallary engine wich heats the main engine before start. Another option is to have special system wich will automatically start the engine if oil temperature drops below minus 20 degrees. Also a good thing is to have special winter oil wich remains liquid in low temperatures. Howewer in cities like Yakutsk it might be a good idea to not shut your angine at all. Or to have a warm garage.

@CaptHollister 3 жыл бұрын
@@alexchivilev I live in a part of Canada where we have similar temperatures as where you live and it's rare that our cars or trucks won't start. One big difference is that our fuels are adjusted for the season. My own car is a diesel and thanks to winter diesel fuel and synthetic oil, it always starts easily even when it's -35c. It's amazing the difference a little chemistry can make. I've never personally experienced starting a car when it's -50c, but I have a friend who lived in Labrador where it does get that cold and he says that it was normal for car owners to simply never shut the engine off.

A very interesting and well edited video! It's fun to meet a fellow temperature tourist though I'm attracted to the opposite extreme. I live in Central Texas where it sometimes gets to +46C in the summer. I have taken trips to Death Valley California where I experienced +55C in the shade! I was driving through Death Valley once and had to turn on my car heater to prevent the engine from overheating. I had cold drinks in an ice cooler behind me. I reached back to retrieve a drink and broke the ice chest sending ice cold water all over my back. My front was +53C and my back was 0!

@MilaLanaBratskSibiriaRussia
@MilaLanaBratskSibiriaRussia 5 жыл бұрын
@@nishchaysrivastava6251 , Carbonite Reviews There was no sale. There was a lease on three terms: - eternal friendship between Russia and America - Spruce island (Spruse Island) was to be forever transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church. - rent $7.2 million in gold The contract had a term - exactly 1 century. A hundred years. The Treaty was concluded in 1867, under the Tsar. In 1967 in Russia there was no Tsar, there was no Kingdom, there was the USSR and Communists who didn't recognize themselves as successors of the Russian Empire. It was the height of the cold war between America and the Soviet Union. Therefore, the question of the return of Alaska out of the question. But in fact, this contract is invalid. From 3 points of the contract the us government has fulfilled only 1 point - paid rent. Spruce island at the Russian Church, the Americans took to themselves. The only point that is more or less observed - peace between America and Russia. There is no open war between us, and a bad peace is still peace. But this point Trump also questioned. The first shot in the direction of Russia from America - and Alaska will return to the Russian Federation. Alaska is Russia. It's only a matter of time before Alaska returns to Russia.

Noticed the haze in the air? This is not water vapor, at this temperature it is almost nonexistent. It begins to crystallize carbon dioxide. This is usually an icy fog at temperatures from -20 ° to -40 ° С - drops of water become ice. But there is radiation fog - the total freezing of the surface, all the heat flies into space, and the appearance of haze. It happens in the far north, in Yakutia, in Norilsk, at temperatures below -40°C. It is not water vapor (H2O) that condenses anymore, but carbon dioxide (CO2), which becomes the cause of darkness. Complete transformation carbon dioxide into dry ice occurs at -78 ° C.

In the U.K. if the wind blows from the East for a few a days under the right conditions, Siberia sends us a little taste of this weather. By the time it reaches our shores it’s warmed up to -5c / -12c , and the country shuts down...... We call it the beast from the East 🤣........have to admire how everything just keeps working including the people in mother Russia👍

I asked him this ;) I heard it 2 years ago or so that in "Jakutia" (Yakutia) the cars are running 24/7 if there is no garage! The uploader, Sebastian, agreed! But I googled for gasoline prices... it is not really cheaper than in other Sibirian cities like Irkutsk or Novosibirsk?! Except there is something like a special card for people living there (since as the coldest large city, means over 100,000 people, is Yakutsk, so some winter tourists drive there for the "winter light"-tour without Oymyakon and Tomtor stops... because this increases the price since in Oymyakon there is no water, only a very very small airstrip from WW2 (it was a refueling place for aircrafts given by the US to Stalin, they flew from Alaska to the Nazi-Frontline, which needed many stops since it were many thousand kilometers... Crazy but it seems like a liter gasoline in Yakutsk now costs around ~75 rouble... but cars are running or the garage is a bit heated, and also the tricks like showed in the video, a special warm coat laid over the motor... I only see 1 oil transporter in the video, but I would really like to know how much the gasoline consumption per car and month is during the cold months! Also about the heating system which must be extreme, I guess thermal and electric plants running on natural gas with diesel/oil as 2nd alternative fuel, or maybe one coal station, it needs 2 or better 3 stations for this city... but Russia is producing daily over 1.7 billion liters of oil... Very much busses, they look like crap and very good looking private cars... but well the worlds largest diamonds mine is close, also Yakutsk is the capital of the Sakha Republic ("Sacha" in German I think), which is place to some very large oil fields and gas fields. Also it is in the east, most of the territory still is not explored but gigantic oil and gas reserves are estimates in Middle and East-Siberia... explaining the boom! Putin let the people living there as long as he gets his oil and gas, you see the asiatic faces, most are no Russians but natives from there, when oil price comes high again (or natural gas) than the boom in Yakutsk will continue.... :)

Meine Meinung

I may be mistaken, but I believe the traditional layout of Russian houses in the country before the Soviet apartment system featured a large central stove, usually with beds very nearby the stove. Also, as for nomads, they probably often slept in their clothes underneath reindeer blankets in a pole framework dwelling covered in reindeer skin with a thick layer of birch and pine underneath carpets to provide more insulation against the cold. Basically, they knew what they were doing.

Sebastian Balders My friend, you forgot to mention that this winter is the coldest in the last 10 years. Tepmeratura in Siberia is everywhere below the norm by 10-20 degrees, from the Urals to Magadan. Not only in Yakutia. In Norilsk there was a frost -50 ° C with a hurricane wind of 30 m / s. In Yakutia, five people died in a week: drivers of broken cars. Many have frostbite. In Irkutsk and Novosibirsk, the frost is -44 ° C, although it is the south of Siberia, there are very few such frosts here. In Yekaterinburg, now -38 ° C, but next week there is expected a warming to positive temperatures. Such a temperature jump is a very strong blow to health. In my city Bratsk at night was -42 ° C, in the daytime -36 ° C, outside the city in the forest -56 ° C. Yes, this is an unusually cold winter, compared with the winters of recent years, beginning in 2010. But not a record.
