Going through my first 18 years felt like every day took a year. I am now 31 and every day feels like an hour. It is actually scary how fast time in moving for me now. This movie made me appreciate those around me much more.

No worries, it's just a side-effect of how we perceive time. You have so many memories and so much life that it feels like it all just went by in a blink. When you're 18 it's so much less and is less jarring. This movie is definitely great for making people stop and appreciate life more.

@LindseyMoon13
@LindseyMoon13 9 ай бұрын
I'm thirty-one and feel the the same lol it's crazy how our perception changes as we age. When we're 10, a year is a whole tenth of our whole lives. Now that we're 31, a year is just one thirty-first of our entire lives. Time literally is going faster, not in reality, but in our own individual realities based on our perceptions.
@The1Music2MyEars
@The1Music2MyEars 9 ай бұрын
I think we perceive time going faster because of work. We do the same routine every day and it makes none of our weekdays memorable, whereas when we were in school, it was its own unique experience every year. Working just doesn't build memories, and when Covid took over, it put even less memory building into the after hours days and weekdays, that's why people felt like the last 2 years didn't exist. It just sucks because our lives revolve around our jobs. A majority of it is automatically fast forwarded due to it making up the most of our lives.

People always sh*t on this movie but I totally agree man it's a gem. I'm a dad now and watching the scene where he shouts at his dad and then his dad is gone just kills me, and then that ending man...... so glad I've seen this movie so many times to remind me to appreciate every moment of my kids, ultimately we fast forward through life and wish moments away, one thing I caught was that they chose specific examples that the every person wishes they could skip to like a promotion or for a sickness to pass. Then the lesson is that you don't wish your life away otherwise you'll miss something great that you already have. Great reaction to a great movie bro well played!

Last Friday, my wife and I were getting a fridge and stove delivered so we were cleaning. We found a letter from our son 'To Mr & Ms Claus'. It said "Please help my mom and dad to spend more time with me.". Absolutely broke us. The thing is, we both work part-time so we can spend a lot of time together at home. We go on camping trips and small getaways as often as we can. I think kids just always want more. Like, we have a Series X, PS5, gaming PC, and 3 Switches so we all have one. Now he wants a Quest 3 because I guess the vr2 isn't enough. There's a fine line between not enough & too much. Maybe enough is like perfection & it's next to impossible to achieve. I think we should just be happy with what we have, no matter what. Work towards improving yourself but don't set unreasonable expectations. Just be happy.

(36:31) Every time I watch this scene I get legit goosebumps, something about this scene feels so ominous, the rain pouring down🌧 the cinematic and powerful strings and pianos 🎹🎵 The blue lighting, Also Adam Sandler’s acting in this scene is PHENOMENAL! The way he’s shaking and trying to stay alive and how he’s whispering cause he can’t really speak. It gets me every time, also the fact that this is an Adam Sandler movie is Mind Blowing! The scene where he neglects his dad before he passes gets me every time, I had a job that I was climbing my way up the ranks of management, and in that came me having no time for family and stress that I would take out on others at home , I’m 24 but I was 22 at the time , I would pour my stress and say hurtful things to people that loved me because like the film I wasn’t getting the position I was working so hard to get, it’s life yea, but at the same time I started to get health scares from family members getting sick and I then felt like I would be in that scene, too worried about a job that could replace me at any time more then my loved ones, and when emergencies happened my job wouldn’t let me leave, at the same time as giving me the run around on why I can’t have the position I worked so hard to get, so I put this movie on occasionally to remind myself that some things are more important in life then a replaceable position, and I think a lot of people overlook this movie cause it’s a comedy, I agree that it should be shown in schools to just help with the whole life perspective. I show this to my younger siblings all the time

Yeah this movie is the reason I call my parents back A LOT. I'll be busy studying for college and they call while I'm in the middle of it and it ends in some 1min convo that ends with: "alright, son, talk soon, okay?" after I give short responses because my head is elsewhere. Just yesterday my dad called at the worst moment and the call lasted like 1 minute and that was after we hadn't talked for 3 days. half an hour later during my study break I called him back and we ended up sitting on the call for about 30 minutes. Turns out there was more conversation in the tank than that one minute. First call my dad asks: "what's going on, kid?" and I respond with the same old: "Busy as always dad. Lot's of studying." and then wait for him to respond and then the call ended in like less than a minute. I will admit that I am busy asf at the moment, but that's never an excuse to stifle a conversation with your parents. I mean, I still do have my 1h of youtube per day, so I better have at least as much available to talk to my damn parents. And this movie definitely helped me be more conscious of that ever since I watched it. Wish I'd seen the movie sooner.
