Willie Nelson actually predates the Outlaw Country movement. He spent years writing hit songs for other country artists and trying to break into the big time. He had modest success on the radio stations of the time but was considered a mediocre vocalist and was known more for his songwriting than his singing. Then he left Nashville for Austin and suddenly Willie was a household name. But Willie is about as country as you can get.

There's a very good article about Toby & Willie. Toby had a day or 2 off in a very long time. He was watching a Willie Show & he was also going to watch a game of one of his buddies basketball game. Willie came down & was chatting with Toby & said man you ought to come to the bus & hang til time for the game. So Toby said okay. Willie ended up talking Toby into smoking a little cuz he doesn't really smoke. Willie's stuff is his own grows it, sells it etc..Amyway Toby said he don't remember going back to his room. But he slept like 2days. He missed going to the game and it ate all the little bit of free time he had!! Willie doesn't somoke anymore due to lung problems. He just does the edibles & they're his, so I'm sure they work!! Love this song!! Sending prayes for Toby Keith battling stomach cancer! 😥🙏❤️ He's such a great guy! Always doing tours for our service men & women!! The last time he sang for them was recently. Even though he was sick & looked so skinny & frail, he still done another concert for them!! Sooo much love & prayers Toby!! You deserve a purple heart!!💜💯

Yes, you can dress as you are when you go to see Luke. In fact, I do not think I have ever seen Luke Bryan wear a cowboy hat, if that's who you are going to see... Like NEVER! He's a baseball cap guy. ~ And Willie doesn't really sing in this song, so you need to see their duet 'Beer for my horses'. It's a great song & fabulous video. It's a mini movie & Willie & Toby are perfect. Willie has done some westerns like 'Red headed stranger' too. As for this song. Snoop Dog said even he couldn't keep up with Willie & the weed. LOL Willie has a ton of hits & was also part of the group (The Highwaymen', which consisted of him, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings & Kris Kristofferson. 'You were always on my mind' is probably his biggest hit & it's beautiful. 'On the road again' is a spunkier tune. My personal fav is 'Blue eyes cryin' in the rain'. ~ Did you notice the hole worn thru Willie's guitar? He only uses that guitar & has used it for his entire career.
