You have to realize, euphonium is a fairly new instrument. There typically aren't even euphoniums in a symphony so they are typically only used in concert bands or brass bands. In concert bands, other instruments fill similar roles as the euph and most composers are more used to writing those anyway. Brass band is a different story. Euphonium fills all the roles. This is where it really shines. Check out some of Philip Sparke's stuff. It has amazing euph parts
