@@PabiMontwedi I'm still very happy with this car. I've had no mechanical issues whatsoever - reliability seem to be great. City driving is great too. It can get a bit noisy on the long road, but then I simply turn up the volume on my radio 🙂. It has more than enough power to handle those step inclines. One minor issue is that the paint seem to scratch easily, so I recommend that you use some kind of paint protection. And, I do receive many admiring looks and random compliments for the blue color.😎

Good review. I live in Australia. I have Suzuki baleno 2022 Auto 1.4 GL. I am very very happy with the performance, style and reliability. It is a brilliant car and would not change it for any other car in this range . My opinion if you are looking for a car 🚗 GO for a Suzuki.

In Indonesia, Suzuki is the best transmission for AT car. Baleno 2022 has 1.5 petrol engine, like Ertiga and XL7.

Have owned this car since Dec 22. Really feel blessed to have own this car. Have owned cars since 2009. I drove Honda to Toyota and I must say this Suzuki is the best car among all. This car is better than a Toyota. If Toyota are selling rebadge syzukus they must know better. Unfortunately some people are feeling hard to accept their are cars that are better made than a Toyota.

Car buying mistakes we make. I test drove the auto variant for 5 kms and thought it was long enough. Bought the car, within weeks I was miserable. I tried my best to accept it, mara gwa pala. I sold it after 2 months of ownership. I really tried to love it shem. But I wouldn't mind it in manual though

I wouldn't do that to myself. Auto should be a No No in such an underpowered car. I honestly don't like how it sticks on 1st gear, makes noise and not go anywhere. That is a let down for me.

We sold our polo for the baleno best decision ever. The polo was definitely much faster and handled better at top end speeds, the polo was quieter at 120 but that's where it ends with the Polo....

Hi,now I'm confused i understand it's a budget car and taking all the negatives mentioned,i would like to if one is looking for 1. not so "high risk" car with better noise insulation 2.decent sound system 3.have decent power for when needed 4.better handling 5.communicative steering wheel 6.spacious interior like this one 7. 3 point seatbelt for all back seats with headrest 8.decent fuel consumption 9. centre armrest with rear AC be new or used because i thought this is decent all rounder but your concerns are also things that i do pay attention to. Yoh mara Onthatile, the requirements are killing me🥶😅😝 In the hatch segment, it's not easy to get a car that gives you all the above, two cars that can tick most of your boxes are higher in price; the Hyundai i20 1.0T Fluid at R356 000 and the Renault Clio V Intens at R350 000. This is considering the "high risk" part. Clio can tick almost all the boxes here expect rear AC vent which the i20 will cover you on that plus it is handling much better than the Clio. Clio feels well planted to the ground and much more premium than the i20 but not as fun especially it's manual transmission. Overall, on Price vs Value, Baleno will win. I'd take the i20 though as it ticks most boxes on your list!

Awesome in-depth review. I actually feel it’s a well rounded package hey. I have a 1.6 vivo which has similar power but heavily under spec 😂🙆🏾‍♂️ Then again at price to buy this 2021 vivo you can get a demo GLx so it’s worth it. I reckon at this price Suzuki should have included leather seats and a sunroof(normal not panoramic) and probably still have the car under R305k or so. So worth it. The road noise will always be there at this price point. I’m shocked it’s tank is small. I feel no car must come out with less than least 45l tank. I mean people are going to use their car long distance and even though it’s fuel efficient not much range on long trips but hey I’m not doubting this beautiful machine 👌🏽 I guess in 2023 the question we must ask ourselves as consumers : “do we need value for money and have a vehicle like this with everything for far less or we still wanna prove something” Hopefully we chose cars correctly🤌🏾😅

Amazing question there Ozem, to ask ourselves what exactly do we need when buying. I think Suzuki really looked into what people needed and also what can hook them as "spec" on a car, things like leather in this segment are not a big deal actually as much as they add some spark, they probably knew that to get below competition they will have to sacrifice some of those things. Considering that it can do almost 600km if not more on the open road, I'd say it's alright to have a smaller tank, remember it helps to cut some weight too.

Leather is an option, our one has black leather with red stiching....it makes the car feel very luxurious and upmarket.

Hi Christo, much appreciated, thanks a lot. The thing is this segment is mostly driven by demand, especially in the second hand market as new car buyers look there first and mostly good ones retain value. Issue is that a second hand one may not be far from the lowest spec new one in value and that's where your competition will be if you sell private but if you go to the dealerships, likely going to get a little less. The chances of break even are quite high though based on the current demand of these cars.

Baleno is the more value for money vehicle as compared to the Starlet. But who offers the better after sales service? Can anyone comment on Suzuki after sales service compared to Toyota?

Honestly I am not sure but parts are mostly driven by demand and with the numnber of cars currently in circulation, Suzuki should be having better aftersales. Toyota is the master in that department and that helps Suzuki as well because they can import parts on the same consignment and share to save costs with economies of scale.

Toyota warranty is 3yr/100 000km and 3yr / 45 000kms service plan, while Suzuki has 5yr / 200 000kms warranty, 4yr / 60 000kms service plan, Baleno is cheaper than the Toyota, it has 360 degree camera and HUD above the Toyota.

Thank you so much Thami, it is much appreciated🙂🙏🏽. The follow-me-home function is just a fancy term for "lights remaining on for few seconds after you lock the car." In the case of Baleno it's when unlocking the car, basically the point is to light up the path leading to your gate/door.

Hi Bennet, I did not find myself changing it but if you go into the settings on the screen between the gauges you will find "unit measure" settings, pretty sure it will be in there. Congratulations on the new purchase, may you have many happy and blessed kilometres.

@@rosemarysithole714 it’s a setting you change on the cluster. Long press on the trip stalk for about 3 seconds. You will see a secret menu come up that will bring up the units/measurements. It’s covered in detail with the cars manual though.

Auto is different when it comes to low powered cars. You will not be able to control the flow of power from down low like you can with manual where you can hold a gear for long. This has a 4-speed auto option and I don't think it is better than manual in how its caliberated.

First this car has an over drive switch on the auto gear lever... when pressed it will change down to 3rd gear from "4th" which is the over drive gear, that gives you instant power but having said that if one needs to overtake just press the accelerator flat and the car changes immediately drops to the right gear depending on speed and then all the power is there...we have never used the OVD button.

Not much difference in safety, only airbag quantity differs, otherwise, all other safety systems are also standard in the GL. We can't ignore the extra 4 airbags though, I am not sure if I would take the GL.
