Plus note a small error in the next iteration formula. The next iteration of x using the secant method should be x,i+1 = x,i - (f(x0)/((f(x0)-f(x-1)/(x0-x-1)) NOT x,i+1 = x,i + (f(x0)/((f(x0)-f(x-1)/(x0-x-1))!

How is this an open-root method if we need two initial values with the root in between the points? Also this sounds a lot like the False Position Method

Okay I figured this out: It is an open-root because the two points DON'T have to include the root in between them. They can be any two points on the curve. And because of this, it is therefore fundamentally different from the False Position Method. The way we draw the secant lines is also different from the False Position Method
