29/9/23. 5.00am Rifugio Firenze. National Park. Parco Naturale Puez Odle, Dolomiti.
Found out my head lamp seemed not as bright, or was me getting tired...I didn’t see the Red-White 1 mark anymore, but I still keep walking. I only realised I was not on the trail 1, the path looked like some taller grasses have been covered, it did not look like a seasoned trail. I mistakenly the white stone border was a trail from far, from very dark. It was 5.45am now. I quickly returned to the Red-White mark to start over. When I reached the last Red-White mark at the fence, I only found a trail on the left I suppose to follow.
Earlier. I could not sleep again after woke up at 2.30am. But I have slept 4 hours since 10am. Strange, mountain folks in the Rifugio all sleep as early as 10am. Must be no night entertainment I guessed. Lol! But hikers are mostly disciplined people. Their goals were always the next morning mountain. One of the mountain Rifugio rules were no noise after 10pm. But there were music for ears though, snoring symphony.
So I started to eat some fruits and drinks, a lot water to get ready my early morning hike. Because I wanted to catch the sunrise at the Mountain Seceda before 7am. It would needs 2 hours according to the local, my speed would need 2-3 hours. Think you already knew you need to plus 30 minutes from their local hiking speed.
Thanks to Autumn moon, so bright, so romantic especially in the mountain, it company me throughout the hike. It was our Chinese Mooncake moon in Italy. Even when I reached, the moon was seen still smiling.
When I was all worn out, I looked up on the stop the Seceda, I saw a Gamse! Wow! I have been telling myself I have not seen a deer or a mountain goat yet. I was so thrilled and keep waving on him. He was stood there for quite awhile. I’m so grateful again. He was stood there like looking at me for a long time, or he was there to encourage me, to cheer me up! I know! It was a pity too far, I could not take a photo. He left when I got nearer. When I was finally reached the top, I saw three of them below the cliffs. Wow! But they left and disappeared in the pointy and legs trembling cliffs.
Although I managed to catch the sunrise of Seseda. But it wasn’t the spectacular beautiful. It did not have as they said ‘breathing lung’ as I expected. The cloud should be flying throughout the sharp edges of Seceda. That was my intention here. Nevertheless, I took my silly acting video, had my ‘Sugar’ chocolate stored up there. I need to hike back later. It was all together 5 hours hiking.
The lazy cows only started had their bell rings, woke up even later than me. The whole trail was no one since 5am. I was worried if I stepped on some deadly Vipers at times. They do have Vipers snakes in this National Park Parco Naturale Puez Odle,
so I hiked with my hiking stick with noice. Lol! Snake normally does not like to get close to human. So don’t you worry. I left Seceda at 8.30am, still found no trace of the ‘hungry photographer’ or tourists. You know why, cable car only open at 8pm. That’s why I stayed at mountain Rifugio, I can go early before anyone. The Seceda mountain was all mine.
I took my time to go back, I even sat at the bench checking my photos ...saw a fat squirrel jumping on the pine trees. Thinking at home, if we even sit under our garden. We will get mossy attack. So might as well enjoy the luxury outdoor here.
It is my last day at Dolomiti mountain Rifugio tomorrow. I will be on the long train and buses to Lago Di Braise. It is quite a distance from Ortisei. I need to connect two buses two trains to arrive. Sounded complicated, but there will be one day I could not traveling solo again. If only I could get close to nature even in my old age. I would.
Till then...ciao! xx huck
