I think they innocently don't know it is bad.I would love it if nobody is serve anything but water can be place at the podium for the preacher in case he needs.

It sends the message they are hollier than the rest. Leaders should be there to serve not to be served. Even Jesus the Lord washed the disciples feet, humble and pure. Titles can be misleading and lead one to hell.
