This is amazing! He had CPR training due to promotion at work. God puts him in a position to save a man's life the very next day 🙏. When he said, "when that guy opened his eyes, I could not think of anything more important that I've ever done." 💊

Wouldn't that be easier than tricking someone into a promotion, then making sure he is there, thereby ruining his date? Sounds like a crazy and stupid deity to me.

In January 2022 I just took my CPR training course and they told us if we don't know the person to only commit to chests thrusts. Do not recessis do not resuscitate via mouth because of the exact reasons of giving hepatitis or another saliva based disease

As long as you are in a place that an ambulance can reach within 15-20 mins, CPR is better without mouth to mouth as your body already has enough oxygen in it to keep it going temporarily, and stopping compressions to give breaths means you release the pressure in the blood vessels which makes it much harder for the blood to move

For real, exposure to possible disease is a risk that needs to be considered before helping others. Healthcare workers know this and CPR classes SHOULD be teaching this as well. You can definitely help someone while minimizing putting your own health at risk. That guy is definitely amazing for helping that man but to think they cannot contract something after just one time…of course you can 😭 I thought that was basic knowledge. Thats like saying you can’t get pregnant after not using protection one time and being surprised when you get pregnant, Of course there’s a possibility the man who needed help didnt have anything and im sure the man who performed cpr did not think about risks at the time but dont throw logic out of the window to defend your actions either. That girl sounded kinda annoying but shes not being completely unreasonable.

As a CPR Instructor I always stress that rescue breathes are optional especially if there is no mask available. Compression only CPR is sufficient.

One BIG piece missing is that Patrick referred to the choking man as “a man” and Jennifer referred to him as a “homeless man” he kept the dying man’s dignity. And she was just judging him.

As a firefighter, I don’t do mouth to mouth resuscitation for the same exact reason. You never know what a stranger may have. Every professional uses a bag valve mask. I carry a pocket size filter just in case.

I agree with the young lady. I'm from New York City and many of the homeless people there are wretched... Most riders don't even sit in the same subway car as them.. no I wouldn't want to kiss someone that night with them having just given CPR. However...I likely would have continued to see them... Pending certain test coming back negative...

A. CPR procedure for a single person doesn’t involve mouth to mouth. Actually it’s generally not advised. B. Yes, homeless person may have hep a/b and mainly c which shouldn’t be an issue if mandatory vaccination was a thing in the states. And yeah he can catch it mouth to mouth. There’s a reason field medics take extra vaccinations

Mouth to mouth is still a thing. They just don't teach it to laymen anymore because studies show that normal people screw up the chest compressions so much when under pressure that its not worth trying to teach them a second component that significantly complicates cpr by adding another layer. Knowing when to do mouth to mouth and when not to takes medical judgement. Doing it unncessarily instead of continuing chest compressions can potentially be the difference between life and death

Actual doctor here. I totally get her point of view. We usually do mouth to mouth with a guard or some sort of protection. Having said that, mouth CPR isnt really as effective as chest compressions. The dude would probably be fine with only having done that

You actually can get things. My daughters a germaphobe from lots of time in the hosp. Nurses & Drs do get a lot of stuff from patients and they spread it. Many nurse and drs have mouth shields in purses and would resist giving mouth to mouth. Aids is real ,covid ,t,b . I'm not saying let someone die but for a germ a phobe even dating would be potential risk.

I'm not going to lie, I'm not giving CPR to a homeless person. A lot of them are drugged out and probably do have a disease. I know I'm not a bad person, that is just a personal choice and everyone has that right, just like this girl does. She is not a bad person.
