My advise to anyone buying superbike, lets say, they are selling Z900 for 8-9 lac. And you have full amount with you. inond 3-4 lac sala madidru parvagilla buy brand new from showroom. However if you do not have the complete amount in hand, then you can check bike ODO and service along with accident history and buy used bikes. But then be prepared to maintain the bike. 9lac sala madi then maintaining the bike is a pain.

Okay, this will be slightly long, but do read through if u r genuinely interested. I am not a keyboard warrior hiding behind a screen & typing non-sense, I am speaking from experience & from how my friends bought their SBKs. Whether u buy new, or old, u r gonna have to maintain the bike either way ☺Whoever is buying a SBK, needs to be fully aware that with those big bikes, comes big maintenance costs. Even simple engine oil, instead of 1L or 1.5, u need to buy 4Litres of it, that too a good performance one. Also general service costs 4 to 5 times that of "regular" bikes. The bill will go spiralling upwards in case spares/parts need to be changed. Just becuz u buy 1st hand doesn't mean u can run it without thinking of maintenance. It WILL have its wear & tear and u WILL have to maintain it if u want it running a long life, without giving u issues which may end up putting a large hole in ur wallet. For people, who collect penny by penny to get a SBK, better to save that 3 to 4L extra if they have. Second hand bikes are not as bad, EXCEPT that u have to be very patient, careful and need to have a very keen eye regarding all the small details before purchasing. Always better to take a couple of friends who own & are well experienced in SBKs along when u go for a test ride (& even more better if u take a trustworthy mechanic along if possible as well). I fully realize no matter how careful u are, or who u take with, no one can guarantee 100% that the bike is genuine & has no underlying problems whatsoever. But what u CAN do, is increase as many odds in ur favour as possible by using ur head, so that u get a decent bike. U can MOST definitely get a decent bike if u play ur cards right. However, I totally agree that if u buy 1st hand, ALOT of headache will be reduced and u ll get a fresh bike without having to worry about anything. BUT, this will hold good if there is only 1 dream bike which u have wanted & saved for, and u are committed to owning it & keeping it for the rest of ur life. From my experience, 99% of SBK owners will want change. Especially when they have just started their SBK journey. They will want to experiment with diff bikes before settling down for one for the rest of their life (Some just keep changing em or stop riding SBKs altogether). There are VERY few who are committed to keeping their bikes life long. Buying a brand new bike, in loan/emi, going through the pain of fulfilling it etc is justified ONLY then. IF u are starting off with SBKs, after owning 1 for sometime, (even when u get a good one) u might realize this SBK and all isn't for u & decide to stop. But sadly, the brand new bike will not leave ur garage without a substantial deterioration of its original price. Or, in a diff scenario u go for a naked & see ur friends fly past u in their super sports & it sinks ur heart & u want to change to a super-sport now. Or, u want to try something diff & go for an adv, it all depends on a variety of diff factors. In such scenarios, going for a second hand bike makes much more sense. Haan, the bike u buy (in case of 2nd hand) may have small issues or may need a change of tyres (even tyres, good ones will cost u 40k or more) but that's a given & u need to have some amount set aside for that just in case. The bike u buy (in case of 2nd hand), u can sell for a marginal loss or the same amt if u r lucky & the bike justifies that. I have seen cases where the bike has been sold for a marginal higher price as well 🤭All this is there. Ofcourse NONE of this matters if u have got more than enough cash to spare and u buy the bike in full cash etc, all this doesn't apply to that blessed category of people 😅 Hence, give it a good long thought before making a leap & may the odds be in ur favour.
