All the cut card is awesome especially when it's from a 63 comic that's really really cool. And they have plenty and plenty of copies of everything so don't worry guys it's probably like the 75th costume that padme wore

Great box. It hurts to see a Silver Age comic cut up, but it must be in really bad shape to do that. Probably missing the cover or would grade out at a .5 or something.

Very lovely top Ally, is that a blouse, or the top part of a dress?

I really like the cut cards when appropriate. Now here is a really long post about how and why they exist. I know many cuts from costumes technically come from extra, left over fabric and wardrobe that is otherwise unsellable and desired by collectors. The same goes for comic cut ups, as they are sourced from books that are completely destroyed, incomplete, and typically coverless. These card companies simple wouldn't purchase anything of value and actually have to outlay money for these gimmicks. That is the entire point of these cut cards, the companies can buy what amounts to barely above trash and use that to create value. It is really amazing when you think about it. The comics are especially nothing to be concerned over. Most of the cuts come from old retail channel returns. Back in the olden days before we had flying cars and AI overlords, retailers like the local newspaper stand, drug store, or one of the many, many other businesses that used to have comics spinner racks, would be able to get money back for unsold product after it sat on the rack/spinner/shelf too long and was no longer the current issue. In order to receive these refunds from Marvel/DC/Archie/Charlton/Golden Key/Harvey the retailer would cut or tear the cover off of the comic and send that back in, as the companies had no use for old comics that had already been most likely damaged sitting on a rack/shelf for a month or two, plus the cost of shipping back useless product would have been prohibitively expensive anyway. Thus there has always been a massive surplus of Golden, Silver, and Bronze age comics with no covers that often have some additional damage to them. Often instead of throwing away the coverless books, as companies told the retailers to do, instead they got sold in huge bundles dirt cheap to kids, donated, or otherwise given away. During the Silver age of 1956 to 1970, for instance, any books would normally see 10% to 20% retail return rates. The known print run of Amazing Spiderman from the late 60s and early 70s was roughly 500,000 issues meaning up to 50,000 to 100,000 of each individual issue might have ended up this way, although that estimate I believe is a little high, but is what many agree on. Today you can easily get on Ebay and find these "reader copy" books from the 60s and 70s for around $10 or less. Seeing some of the panels used for the cut cards we know that these card companies will use any panel even if it has nothing of relevance featured on it. With most comics of the era up to the 1990s featuring a typical 23 to 26 pages of comics and the ability to get 3 or 4 cuts per actual page depending on placement, condition, and featured characters, companies like Upper Deck can produce a run numbered to 50 out of 1 $10 comic that the cards then sell for hundreds to thousands, depending on what is featured, on the secondary market. It borders on being a racket as they are literally turning trash into treasure and creating perceived value out of thin air. Not sure why I typed all this, but now you never have to feel bad about comic cuts again Ally, except that they are pretty much a swindle card companies figured out they could get away with. If you want to learn more, search for "remaindered comics," the more official term for comics where the top 1/3rd of the cover to the whole cover was removed and returned by retailers for credit.

If the comic was in terrible shape and they paid 5 cents for it why not? Cool card though.
