It happened to me as well, it's really really really hard to be alone but i promise you'll find someone like that one day. I'm still trucking with maybe a small glimmer of hope or it could be false, but even a dying star is still bright enough to be seen, so just hold on.

@@wealdfury Carrington Event 2.0 is coming. We COULD have prepared for it, but something is blinding us to the danger. We could go on for days about who and what is to blame, and that will be an important lesson for future generations to ponder in the future, but at this point, all I can do is ponder tragedies like yours and what is shown in the film so I can use it to motivate me to protect my loved ones. Such as the amorphous monster on the bed, THEY will rule the shadows in the aftermath of the Event, for months, maybe several years, before good men and women are able to exterminate them, clear out such vermin so we can rebuild. At first, I’ll only be able to protect my family, but as we get stronger, we will protect other innocent souls as well. Please, don’t give up easily in the dark world to come. There will be people like me out there. We won’t go down without a fight. The monsters will not win.

Damn, that was heavy, but really well written. The stylization of her memories is absolutely chilling, but really helps describe how she felt (and still feels) about her trauma. The greyscale memories contrasting the beautiful pastels of the present were fantastic. I also appreciate the accurate portrayal of the school counselor, they usually mean well but the situation is always "out of their hands". This was a fantastic animation, awesome work by the voice actors too. Not sure why I was recommended this but I'm glad I was!
@sphagnum8607 Жыл бұрын
wow i dont know how or why youtube recommended this to me so quickly but what a fantastically well made and moving short, especially the overall pacing as well as the art direction with the usage of the different styles turned out extremely well and emphasised the story in a very complimentary manner. Beautifully done!

There's so much to say about this but something I wanna draw attention to is how Ena is characterised - I could tell Ena definitely holds a LOT more respect for Haedam's choices and just like in general than anyone else in this film yet it's so clear that Ena really wanted to hang out, the warmth and just good friendshipery is so well portrayed in this film.

This reminds me of when I was little and my mother would take us to the beach close to dark when parking was free. For a short time, we could forget all the scary things happening and could just be warm and safe. Even though it all happened so many years ago, I still wish I had someone to remind me that this is my second verse. Things are better now, but those little reminders still send me back to that dark room sometimes.

I genuinely got BIG chills at 3:09-3:30. It’s just something about the animation style drastically changing and the sentences “I can’t bear with you any longer” being said multiple times. Both of those things were genuinely pretty disturbing to me. Extremely fantastic job with this animation!!!! Edit: I just saw the ending and let me say… MY GOD IS IT BEAUTIFUL. This is definitely one of my new favorite short films! Again: fantastic job with this!

Second Verse just as a name strikes out that her first one was horrible. The fact she went through that trauma and they can't do anything about it was sad, the visuals were beautiful and eerie. Her friend was a nice comfort, but she definitely needs that safe space after what happened to her. Overall good film, hope the characters have an amazing time at the beach! 🏖

This was extremely powerful. The amount of emotion, the expression of trauma, everything is absolutely spectacular. Your use of color and monochrome here is especially meaningful. Trauma, in whatever form, can affect us all. I relate to this too, since I was brought out of a dark place by my roommate and my life has only gotten better. Sure I'm a late bloomer, but at least I am living rather than existing !

touches on themes that hit close but in like a very beautiful and peaceful way + the animation itself is absolutely breathtaking, the colors too, and the choice to make some bits greyscale was incredibly efficient. i have unconditional love for that tiny window moment
@cowgirlbe6op10 ай бұрын
God 1:40 - 2:10 made me experience the most indescribable feeling of discomfort and just feeling.. grossed out by the way that the other person was portrayed. Something about that scene and the shifting of the person and the window and the moving around and the atmosphere overall was just.. uncomfortable and startling compared to the brighter atmosphere otherwise. This was beautifully constructed.

Dear god, what a touching and underrated animation I stumbled upon. It's amazing how the animation and artstyle ties the story together and how the delicate and heavy themes of trauma were portrayed. The way the haunting memories of a traumatic event can affect a person and mess their head to make them blame themselves is really scary, but it makes the journey towards healing and being around those who care and look for you warmer, albeit bittersweet. This was great to watch and beautifully crafted! Good job

Holyy the use of the different aspect ratios to frame the present and the past, the more boxed in past converying how suffocating it was being trapped like that, Along with the use of how during the panic the ratio changed back to the boxed in one to show that fear of the past coming back into the present.. Then the full picture ratio for the end of the film giving that sense of being completely free of it all, I dont know if I'm saying my words correctly but wow, WOW!! This is amazingly done!!

This is one of the most beautiful Calarts films I’ve ever seen. This kind of work is why I really want to get into animation. (apologies in advance for a really long comment) that hit a heart string I didn't expect it to his, when going into this I didn't even know what to expect. of course I read the description first, I love it when they're broad, it lets me brace for impact and still come out of it in tears. what really caught me was the way differing art styles were used: when being reminded of a dark traumatic past made everything feel unclear, the art was portrayed in a messy manner, like when you can't think straight; when you're lost in thought and all you feel is the washing of painted waves with a feeling of dissociation. things that don't always work WORKED here, and I think that's what makes it special. not to mention the combination of intriguing sound design, which fits the title "second verse" in a way that doesn't feel intentional but probably definitely is. keep working hard! I love work like this as it always resonates within me, I hope to see more of your stuff some day 💕

Okay, this is a theory. The blond girl(I’ll call her B) was emotionally abused by her mother, or her legal guardian. She was forced to take up as little room as possible to appease her mom. She also sees the beach as a safe space for some reason. Someone else, a man and a classmate from the councilor’s dialogue, also traumatized her. Multiple times(the councilor said *instances* not just one instance), and bad enough that if the councilor hadn’t been a bitch, B could of/would have filed paperwork to take it higher in the chain of command than their school. That’s a big freaking deal. I’ll leave out what I think it is, because it’s probably vague on purpose. It was so bad, that combined with the trauma she already had from her mom, she was either considering or almost attempted to take her own life. I’m not sure how real that scene was. Well the undercut girl( I’ll call her U) either noticed she seemed in need of a friend or wanted to ask her out on a date. (with the car scene both of them were blushing. for some that’s obvious romantic attraction but for others it isn’t, and instead is just nerves or being shy.) So U decided to get B some lunch, B accepted, and took the hint to hang out/go out with U. They both decided to head to the beach. Possibly symbolizing that U will become a safe person for B, since they are going to a safe place for B. Hope that helps!

I can never decipher my emotions enough to properly convey how this piece of animation connects to me and how it makes me feel, but what I AM good at is being way too focused on details that feel familiar to me- AKA Ena's voice acting??? She sounds exactly like Olivia Olson (Marceline from Adventure time, Vanessa from Phineas and Ferb, etc) Listen, when voices sound h o t, I MUST mention it ..other than that, this is a fantastic piece of work I don't know if this channel will continue to make more but I'm inclined to sub anyway!

Emotional and psychological trauma still plague me to this day. I developed Maladaptive daydreaming for a way of escapism but I now know that it doesn't help, I have now been diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. Am I me? Who am I? Which of yhem is the real me? What will happen when my Mom dies? She's my safety net. I've lived thousands of time in my head, I have grown old and died with people who live in my dreamscape. But that's not me, but I've been in my own head since I was a child and now I'm looking at the world with new eyes and... I cannot bear it.
