In this webinar, we will introduce the 30×30 initiative and its connection and importance to climate, environmental justice and human health and make the case for why and how academia should expand their current sustainability goals to include biodiversity goals. We call on institutions to pivot to an outward stance to engage in their communities, regions and nationally to be involved in land stewardship and conservation as natural climate solutions. We will articulate the importance of academia advancing biodiversity and land conservation together with their other sustainability goals.
Speakers:
- Marianne Jorgensen, Program Manager for Academics for Land Protection in New England (ALPINE)
- David Foster, Faculty member in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology department at Harvard University, Director Emeritus of the Harvard Forest and President of the Highstead Foundation
