One twist that could be interesting would be instead of taking a player floundering at a big club, you take someone with high PA at a club outside the Top 5 like Celtic or Shakhtar and is looking for the right place to step up in their career.

If I had to guess, I'd say Smith Rowe didn't get to play that season due to non-eu registration rules in Italy. They are a pain in the ass to play around, even for the AI

Great vid, thought it would be a retro one, but this was incredible too. If you do end up with a retro database, I’d love to see how Jose Baxter’s career from being the youngest ever player in the Prem would have gone otherwise. Also, Phil Jones if he could have stayed fit at United.

Hi Matt, great vid as always, I'd suggest the following players for a retro DB playthrough: Freddy Adu, Bruma, Gaël Kakuta, Yannick Bolasie, Adel Taarabt, Hatem Ben Arfa, Mario Balotelli, Ricardo Quaresma, Fábio Paím, Ganso, and of course the original player who took a step way too big for himself, Kerlon. Some are just talent that never lived up to their hype, others are "streets won't forget" type players that could've had even more successful careers in different environments. Of course you could also just sim some 5-10 seasons and check in on old FM wonderkids (players like Cherno Samba, Tonton Zola Moukoko, Mark Kerr, Maxim Tsigalko etc.) because they usually get created with big PA even though they weren't all that special in real life.

random idea for a video which seems like it'd suit your channel content (not sure if i mentioned it before yet) Play a season with a rich team with lots of good players expected to win trophies, but the catch is that you can't play any of them in a position they have any proficiency in, have to retrain entirely to a new position (only possible to do with starters, but that's good enough) I'd love to see you do it as PSG for instance and randomly play Mbappe as a complete wingback or something

I’ve noticed on FM24 far more so than previous versions that players will go back to clubs they have an affinity with at the end of their careers.

In the old championship manager one of the text lines would be "[player x] with the goal at his mercy". I used to like it when it was Van Persie as it would turn it into a Dr. Seuss book as it would turn it into "Robin Van Persie with the goal at his mercy". That useless bit of information has been in my head for about 20 years. Imagine if instead i had used that space in my memory for something useful...maybe if all that time spent playing FM was instead used to better humanity. Collectively with all the time we spent playing FM we could have figured out how to end world hunger or explore the outer reaches of the solar system, instead of that i can remember the text from a game 20 years ago and which wonderkids would best suit a 3-5-2 from FM14. Theyll ask me on my deathbed "any regrets?" And ill say "i never got the best out of Kim Kallstrom and Mark Kerr"

I’ve got an idea for you to try. You should do this with two players like normal but move them both to the same team and see if they can boost each other or potentially make them worse

You need to think of a point system to determine who did best. For example: for a bad player if he gets caps for their international team you get more points but if he only plays 10 games a season you get less points then 30 games a season. It's hard because it will probably be different for every player but something to think about

You could just have to set individual targets for each player that each move has to help them achieve. Apparently Erling Haaland has had a broad career path planned out for years and his dad said he might end up staying 2-3 years in each country. So it would be cool if you try to get them to win the league in each of the 5 major European leagues and finish off their career in the US or Asia for one last payday but also at a club where they can win the North American or Asian Champions League. Maybe it's best to do this with a Brazilian at the start of their career, get them to win the Copa Libatodores before they move to Spain/Portugal win something there and then onto the Premier League or Serie A, a big payday in Saudi Arabia where they can compete in Asian Champions League and finish at a club in NYC/LA or Inter Miami. I'm sure Ancelotti won the league in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, England and obviously Champions League so he should go Brazil/Argentina and try to win their domestic league and Copa Libatodores too. Would be great if a player tried to do the same
