I grew up with the Cold war and school drills where we squatted under our desks or in the halls with our head between our legs and hands over our necks as if that was going to do anything other than, as we children used to joke, make it possible for us to kiss our ass goodbye. 😂 Sadly the world seems just as filled with conflict and threats now. I was a kid during the height of the cold war insanity and paranoia, and it has scarred me so much I am having a really hard time relaxing with this video. The useless and futile school bomb shelter drills and "duck and cover" were terrifying in themselves and certainly did nothing to allay the reality of mutual assured destruction.
