On May 4th, 2022, travel writer and author, Anastasia Mills Healy, gave a talk regarding her recently published book. She shared intriguing stories about Connecticut’s people, places, and history from her book “Secret Connecticut”.
Did you know that a Connecticut resident was president before George Washington, and flew before the Wright Brothers? Or that you can descend into a former copper mine that doubled as America’s first state prison? As a travel writer during a pandemic, Greenwich resident Stasha Healy turned her attention to her home state and found 84 surprising stories that she compiled in “Secret Connecticut: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure”. Healy shared fascinating, little-known tales about the state that made even the most well-informed lifelong resident say, “I didn’t know that!”
