My internet is slow but I still managed to download a vm and a kali image over a few days then I logged into my local phone tower (i live right next to it) the i used wireshark to sniff the packages then I could decrypt them and read basically any text or listen in to any call that anyone in a massive area was doing.

I haven’t heard of ZeuS/Zbot in a while. The goto tactic in many high profile cases (as of early 2020) is a combination of the Emotet malware and possibly an infostealer like Trickbot or some ransomware like Ryuk. While Emotet (which started out as banking malware a couple years ago) serves as a „door breacher“ and can be used to covertly explore a network and exfiltrate things like email contacts, it can also download additional malware. Its backend can build complex graph-based database structures. That way, whoever runs the backend can establish patterns of communication within a target organization. This allows way more targeted attacks because malware laden emails can be sent to a new victim using and referring actual business-related information that normally only the sender and recipient are privy to.
