Figure's interactions tell us a lot about the state of the doors world. The fact that there isn't really any real sense of cooperation between the entities, rather there being more violence, gives the game more of a chaotic and limbo feeling which really helps add depth to the game.

Entity interactions like these I feel add a LOT to the entities and the game overall. It contributes to a greater 'ecosystem' amongst them and makes them feel a lot more creature-esque. I'd love to see more events like these added between other entities.
@TheRealFedrikoАй бұрын
yeah, like guiding light being able to scare off gloombats is a nice detail, since it’s a bright light they can’t attack.
@HungryWardenАй бұрын
Ever since floor 2, I’ve started theorizing about how the entities make an ecosystem, and this is what I’ve got. Rush and Ambush are hunters. They feed off of killing anything in their path. Unfortunately, hunting takes them a ton of energy, which is why they can only stay around for so long before they disappear and have to “recharge”. Rush puts all of its strength into breaking the lights and killing the player (that’s why it does 125 damage instead of just 100), whereas Ambush conserves its energy, which is why it deals 100 damage and doesn’t break the lights, but it’s able to stay around for longer. One interesting thing about Ambush is that it has a pixelated design, which could indicate that it’s a lot more powerful than we see in game, but its actual form is sensitive to the environment it is in. Rush does seem to have a lower form of intelligence, with it starting to attack more rapidly and conserve more energy in the Greenhouse because it knows that it’s going to be a while until it can attack something again if the player reaches the elevator. It no longer opens the next door, instead just stopping at it, indicating that its attacks are less forceful and more desperate. All of Rush’s previous failed attacks likely resulted in this fatigue. Ambush tending to show up later in the game is likely another instance of Ambush conserving its energy and only really using it when it needs to. In fact, this is further proven by the Again & Again & Again modifier, which has Ambush attack extremely frequently, but rebounding less, taking less energy. Something I thought I’d mention is that Rush is able to come from the front in the Mines due to the “winding tunnels of the Mines”, according to Guiding Light. This means there is a tunnel system that we don’t see that Rush uses to navigate. It is definitely smarter than its given credit for, As for which one is smarter, I’m not sure, though I’m leaning towards Ambush because Ambush’s attack strategy relies on Hide, which could mean that it is aware of Hide. While we’re talking about Rush and Ambush, I thought I’d mention Blitz. The Rooms entities are a whole other can of worms since Curious Light is surprised to even see someone in the Rooms, indicating that it virtually never sees people, so they might kill just because. Anyway, it seems like Blitz is sort of an evolution of Rush and Ambush, taking the good and bad traits of each of them and combining them into an entirely new entity. It’s got Rush’s looks, Ambush’s colors and glow, a combination of both entities’ jumpscares, the ability to deal 100 damage like Ambush, Rush’s ability to flicker and break the lights, and Ambush’s ability to rebound, while having some of its own traits like a color changing face and the ability to know roughly where your hiding spot is located. I used to not like Blitz very much, but I am really starting to appreciate how well they combined Rush and Ambush while it still feels like its own entity. Screech is likely a scavenger. It picks up whatever Rush leaves behind, and it makes a psst sound to see if whatever it’s about to attack is still alive, to make sure it’s safe to attack. With the knowledge these are Giggles infected by Seek, it’s possible that the goo infected its brain, causing it to not fully understand the characteristics of something that is dead other than it not reacting to its pssst noise. Eyes is a bit of a strange one. I think since Eyes has nothing to defend itself with, it uses its glow and loud noises to scare off anything that might be looking to attack it, and attempts to position itself in whatever it thinks is an advantageous spot to get things to look at it. Perhaps it only attacks larger creatures, since smaller entities would likely get scared off by the noise it makes. Interestingly, it seems like all of Figure’s abilities are made to counter Eyes. Since Figure can’t see Eyes, its only method of killing is rendered entirely ineffective. It also makes a really loud noise that would attract Figure easily. The question is whether Eyes can even be physically damaged or is just a ghost. This would change things quite a bit. If the second is true, which it likely is, I’m thinking that Figure and Eyes might actually work together when the opportunity comes up. Any time someone looks at it, Eyes makes a specific audio cue that you can hear even if you aren’t the one looking at it. This could potentially attract Figure over to where Eyes is, where Figure can do the killing for it. What seems like a weakness is actually a huge strength. Furthermore, they both leave the body in the same condition, which consists of the head being separated from the rest of the body, though Eyes pulls the body in. Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have any special interactions in gameplay though. In the Mines, Eyes is going on the offensive and trying to get you to look at it. The reason for this is unknown, though it could just be Eyes changing its strategy after multiple failed attempts. Hide is likely just a very territorial entity. It tries to scare you using scary visions to get you out, and when you still refuse, it starts communicating to you using words, and then it finally kicks you out. It’s probably just afraid of the player. I’m not sure what it feeds off of, but it’s probably not people. Ambush uses this to its advantage to get easy kills. I actually have a really good theory about Dupe. The creature we see is just a hunting mechanism for a bigger creature. The actual creature is probably just a stomach with hollow tentacles attached, and the doors Dupe hides behind are just fingernail-like growths on the tentacles. The hole in the ceiling of the Dupe room leads through a hollow tentacle directly to the stomach of the actual creature, which Dupe feeds by regurgitating chunks of meat into the hole. If Dupe manages to land the finishing blow on the player, it will grab them and drag them into the hole. Dupe acts as its teeth, hunting and chewing the food for it, before delivering it to the stomach. As for why you are unable to see Dupe, it likely has some sort of power that allows it to create illusions to hide itself and scratch out the door numbers. This theory would explain a couple of weird things about Dupe, such as the inability to see Dupe in the transparent doors of the Greenhouse or the fact that all Dupe doors are coordinated with each other (no repeat numbers). Dupe can even cast an illusion of Guiding Light on the door in dark rooms. Dupe may be one of the most powerful entities in the game. The best way I could describe Grumbles and Giggles without making this already unnecessarily long comment longer is that they are the entity equivalent of ants. They burrow, make nests, have a queen, and are social creatures. Seek is like a zombie ant fungus, making the Giggles into mindless Screeches, which turn hostile to the Grumbles, causing them to kill their own young to prevent the infection from spreading, though in real life that isn’t how the zombie ant fungus works. Figure is the most animalistic yet intelligent out of all of them, eating anything in its path. Its theme is literally called “Unhinged”. There’s not much more to it than that. Edit: Figure’s flesh piles could be skin that got old and rotten, so Figure shedded it off. It could also be vomit. Seek seems to be like an invasive species. Maybe it originated from the Dam, since that is where the most Seek goo is being kept. Before it knew about the player, it battled with the Grumbles, infecting the Giggles, nearly driving them to extinction. There’s only four Grumbles in normal gameplay, but there’s a room that can sometimes generate that has a Grumble tunnel in it, which is good evidence that the Nest used to be a lot bigger and more populated than what we see now. Eventually Seek left them alone to find a new target. The player is that target. Halt is very straightforward. It’s a hunter, it tries to trap you in its room and disorient you to make it easy to kill you. Not much more to it beyond that. Edit: I recently came up with the idea that the reason Halt is the same shade of blue as Guiding Light is to trick humans into going towards it. Redibles said Snare was one huge plant and the parts we see are just a small part of it. It’s probably supposed to hunt smaller entities to feed itself. Void, Lookman and Haste are all too mysterious to theorize about, though Haste and Lookman could be evolutions of Dread and Eyes, though the resemblance is only in mechanics. I still don’t think we have enough information to confidently say what their role is in the ecosystem. Edit: I think Dread actually lives anywhere in the Hotel and the clocks chiming are what causes it to show up and chase you. Dread seems to have some sort of paralysis ability, where it is able to freeze its victims to kill them. I think that Dread’s death animation is actually pretty gruesome. Dread appears for about a frame, then you’re frozen, and then holes appear all over the screen just before you die. I think what’s actually happening here is that it is ripping holes in your eyes to get inside your head and shut down your brain, though most of this is speculation. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

That leaves Haste, and I have no clue about it either other that it invokes a primal fear in me just like The Joy of Creation basement room 3. Maybe I could say that Haste is some sort of insanity caused by being there just like some Backrooms levels; once you go in its only a matter of time. Also makes sense since Haste is a client side entity meaning each person gets their own screaming spectral skull that only they can see

jeez, that was a giant comment. anyway, another interesting thing is: hide & seek are supposed to be a canonical duo, confirmed by the devs. we don’t know why, but it’s probably because of the game “hide & seek”. apparently redibles said that hide is the one who prevents closets from spawning in seek’s chase… even though they still spawn. this could also explain why hide’s floor 2 form is heavily associated with red, just like seek. hide is also shown to be stronger than we initially thought in floor 2, just like seek. so maybe we could see hide & seek actually work together in floor 3, and maybe we’re gonna have to play hide & seek with seek, and hide will try to alert seek maybe?

@HungryWardenАй бұрын
I’m thinking Snare is most likely made to kill and eat smaller creatures, and the player just ends up getting caught in them anyway, but they can get out easily due to their strength and size compared to smaller creatures like Bob. Snare simply lacks the strength to kill the player. Rush might have figured this out at some point and used Snare to its advantage, which is why it appears more often in the Greenhouse. The chances of being able to kill are much higher. I doubt Snare has any intentions or anything, it just feeds off of live animals instead of light due to its habitat being perpetually dark and rainy. It’s a parasitic relationship, with Rush being the parasite and Snare being the victim. I usually would say host, but Rush doesn’t live INSIDE Snare, it merely steals anything it happens to grab. Though I’m not sure if that would even count as a parasitic relationship, but Rush exclusively benefits at the expense of Snare starving, so I think on a technical level it fits the definition.

I wonder what would happen is there were seek eyes in figures presence. Im pretty sure nothing would really happen after watching the video theory about figure and seek merging in floor 3, I somehow feel like most of the theories from this guy are actually true, because giggle and screech do look alot alike. The only way I could see making this easier is if you threw glow sticks against the dupe door, leading the gloombats there which leads figure there too, but that’s just a theory

the figure fighting dupe just (sort of) proves a theory of mine, where i said dupe went by in the rooms destroyed by figure, because figure couldn’t cause the scratch marks in them by himself. so what if, dupe and figure actually fought each other in those rooms? hence everything being broken & the scratch marks.

The reason gloombats are eaten by figure is due the bright light emitted from figure head. Gloombats are attracted to light so they end up in figure mouth. This has nothing to do with lore in doors but rather a biological trait like in real life because there’s really not much stuff to go around in the mines.
@masterofcolersАй бұрын
2:38 this makes sense why figure probably can hear us when we crouch, but just doesn’t eat us unless you come in contact, where he considers you a possible threat. but maybe because we barley make any noise, just regular stepping noises to figure, not extremely loud stomping. when we crouch, figure hears us, but we’re quiet, and because of that he doesn’t care about us, he’s just in pain when we stand which is louder.

I wouldn't say Figure isn't an apex predator, it shows immense strength, overpowering most things it comes across with minimal effort, it's most likely due to Dupe thinking whatever got close was weaker than it was, and ambushed, but since it was Figure, and it forcefully pulling Figure in, caused it to die, and not like being crucified, just straight death, which also shows us something with Dupe, how is it perfectly fine after the fight when we see it later on? I think Dupe is a hivemind, which I think you once said before in an older video, which shows us that your theory was right. Also, on the topic of "death" in Doors, what about the Crucifix, affected entities get banished, but they return perfectly fine, which make me think the 3rd Architect could be freeing them from the Guiding Light, as we have seen this Architect overpowers the Guiding Light when the Crucifix fails.

I think Seek originally fought Grumbles and nearly drove them to extinction, and decided to leave to find a new target to oppress, and the player got caught up in Seek’s behavioral pattern.

My theory is that figures senses are heightened like you said so any noise will pester and annoys him so he goes to destroy it, I reckon this can be proved as the alarm clock and giggle being crushed have the same animation. With dupe as he won’t open the door he assumes figure is a player and attempts to attack it, then figure kills dupe as a defence I’m guessing. I hope this helps

Most entity goals are just to feed them self few actually do it for the sake of it and here’s a list if you need it Figure,dupe,screech,rush,ambush-hunger Screech,giggle-pranks (screech eats you during the death animation but he probably also pulling a prank) Gloom bats-light hurts them so they destroy you if you have a light source used Grumbles-self protection Seek-increasing it’s own mass (if you actually spectate a player dying to seek by getting caught you see they turn into blobs of ink also a reason why he hunts grumbles so much Dread-probably doesn’t want you to stay in the room for way too long Tell me if I missed any

I know some people have already said it, but it’s interesting to see that none of the hostile entities are actually cooperating with each other. Figure killing Dupe, Giggles, and Gloombats, Seek killing the Grumble Queen… sure, they all have a similar goal: to hinder and potentially kill the player, but the fact that they aren’t actually with any of the other entities either just makes the game even more chaotic and unpredictable. Doors is such a good take on Roblox horror and horror in general-it’s the perfect balance of scary, epic, and captivating. And the fact that it was all made in Roblox of all things is incredible, it just looks like it could be its own game.

Figure is probably still an apex predator which is why seek is keeping an eye on her in door 100 to ensure she never enters his domain and hunt his food. Since she is native to the hotel with quiet entities she probably has very sensitive hearing, so once introduced to the mines with noticeably louder entities she becomes more violent. The dupe interaction is likely a mistake on Dupe's end, accidentally attracting the unwanted attention of Figure. Overall I think Figure serves as a major threat to non boss entities and even other bosses want to stay clear of her.

I have a similar theory Figure's hearing is extra sensitive and loud noises are excruciating to him. That is why he smashes the alarm clock and paintings. This also makes me think that the main reason he tries to kill the player is because of the noise they generate, This is probably also why he becomes enraged when the player uses the alarm clock. It means that Figure knows that something put that there on purpose, so he wants to find it and kill it. This is also why he kills other entities.

In my opinion, Figure definitely isn't supposed to be here. Hide dosen't spawn in Figure's library, Figure's reaction to the power room and the Mines shows it's never *left* the library- or at least the hotel- and no other monsters attack each other (Aside from the Seek and Grumble war, but that's clearly been going on for a while). The Figure isn't supposed to be here, and I don't think I've even supposed to exist, as you said with Figure's inefficient hearing actually hurting it. Figure isn't a predator, a spirit, a demon or a species- it's some sort of creation (Maybe by Seek, Mischievous light or a new character) that hates it's existence and takes it's anger out on everything and anything.

I want to see Figure beat the crap out of Rush but have significantly more trouble with Ambush, either stalemating where both get wounded or outright just covering its hearing orifices when its near.
