To clarify, the pub that Marckus and company went to isn't actually a dedicated meeting spot for Hunters. They were the only people there besides the bartender, Brock, Git, and Spit, and even before Brock and his boys pulled up, Harry was warning them not to use the word 'vampire' in casual conversation, even though they'd been talking about 'Blanks' for some time. We also don't know if Brock, Git and Spit are in on the supernatural because none of them reference it despite Brock being the son of someone fairly high up in the Arcanum. So there's no obvious indication that any of the Blacklaw Gang are actually aware of the supernatural, otherwise they might have noticed Marckus becoming a wizard.

Palm oil is used in food, beauty products, and sometimes as biofuel. It's an oil derived the fruit of oil palms, and makes up about a third of all vegetable-derived oils produced globally. They're often used in processed foods specifically, and the average person consumes 17 lbs of palm oil annually. Demand for the product has only increased as more uses have been found, leading to palm oil plantations becoming widespread throughout the tropics. As a result, they're frequently criticized for being a major factor in tropical deforestation, as well as frequent targets of human rights violations by plantation owners using child and/or slave labor. The biggest producers are Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Nigeria. However, a 2018 report by the International Union for Conservation of Nature claims that palm oil is the most efficient of all vegetable-based oils. This does not change the existing issues, but it does make switching to any other source a worse idea than continuing with this one, though some level of regulation is certainly needed to limit land-clearing, while the human rights issues seem to be more endemic and widespread to all kinds of crop plantations in these areas.

Right-O! I thought I remembered seeing something in the old Hunter: the Reckoning books that might be going on in Giles' case... There are otherworldly beings seeking to fight the Supernatural known only as "The Messengers" or "The Heralds", they will grant humans the ability to see the True Nature of Supernatural beings in a bid to get the humans to fight them. "The Hunters" or "The Imbued" are what happens when they don't hesitate or shrink from the horror of finding out that your Gym Teacher is a Soul-Sucking creature who finds absolute pleasure in your suffering...and the Janitor is a Vampire... However, some don't make the cut to be a Hunter, but they're still cursed to know that Monsters secretly run the world and that Furries are actually scary...well, scarier. These individuals are known as "The Bystanders". I suspect Giles is a Bystander...

Fairly certain Big D is from the early years of society given whom he's based off of, and since Vampires in World of Darkness are heavily based on Christian mythology, so possibly from Biblical times and most definitely from the Middle-East given his appearance and again given that his inspiration was from what would be modern day Turkey.
