Yin getting jumped was genuinely brutal but i couldnt look away, the animation was also amazing, the fights were pretty grounded for a pseudo immortal martial artist. My only complaint is that i wish it was longer, id genuinely kill for a full time series or movie😭🙏

@@Rhyciz I just assumed his name was Yin in contrast to Yang, but there isn't a real canonical name for the MC, in my opinion Yin is pretty fitting though

As someone who put 400 hours into a game that can be beaten in 30 mins as a world record speed run. I only have 1 question. How many lives does it take to learn kung fu?

I hope you do get down to play the game. I played this game myself and it's one of my favourite games, and you realize this very short episode is extremely accurate with how the game is made. When we meet the student, we actually get to see his personality, which is reflected in his taunts in the game. That sequence where he meets his older self and fights off vague figures reflects the skill upgrade you get when you die, coming back older and stronger. One difference I do notice that in this episode it was Sean who killed his father and killed him, which was not accurate to the game. In the game, Yang is the one who killed his father, and Fajar is the one who killed him with the knife (sean was one of the few people who actually looked away in the game). But I liked how this episode showed that, to the MC, it all feels the same to him. All of them killed his father, and all of them killed him, therefore they're all the same. That's how deep vengeful emotions run. The game is also split between levels (warehouse, club, museum, tower, and sanctuary), at least now we know where our MC goes in-between levels. That old lady represents a more happier version of a 60 year old. 60 years perfecting the art of dumplings, which is mundane on the surface, but you can tell she's very content and happy with how her life turned out, while the MC didn't spend 60 years (technically speaking, he probably lived 10-18 years) but his life was cut short and he realizes he's now a 60 year old who knew nothing but martial arts, experienced nothing but pain, and how he'll likely have to live with this memory, existing in his frail body, until he dies. It's a very sad way to live with limited opportunities to turn your life around. I felt for the student in the game (and happy for the alternate ending), but I felt more sad watching the MC, knowing he could've lived a really fantastic life than the one he's living right now. I really liked this episode, and I'm glad it came out since the game is not longer getting any updates.

That's why I think Sifu deserves his own animated series. In just one 9-minute episode, he has shown a small reflection on the cost of revenge. It has potential.

@@ThePalebloodHunter Me personally, I think it's best to leave it as a 9 minute episode. Sifu was a game that's meant to emphasize the kung-fu experience and not much the story. Tbh I'm amazed that sloclap didn't develop much on the story yet it was still engaging enough to think about the narrative of seeking revenge. The 9 minute episode actually leaves a lot of flexibility to interpret the episode. Turning it into a series would narrow the plot and take away from the flexibility imo.

When I saw this, I loved this animation, the fights and how brutal it was. When he returns to the dumpling vendor and she realized it was him and told em if it was worth it actually made me tear up. Made me reflect on past actions and revenge. I was moved to say the least.

Never played this game and only saw a bit of it when it first came out so went into it blind. While watching it we came up with a few theories that differ from the game. Like his father dying was recent, maybe even earlier that day. The multiple versions of him, while older are wiser and more experienced fighting. We thought maybe the other world where they all are is like his own purgatory maybe even hell. Sitting there they are all fighting each other and training while also going through past and future fights. There as a detail that made me sure, when he was fighting in the walkway he slips in blood and dies but then the older version just allows himself to slip through the blood while keeping his fighting stance. Would go either way, experince from the slip, or older and wiser knew to just let himself slide. At the end I like to think he was quite content with how things turned out since he'd died before the short started any extra time was just that, extra. Him being an old man I think he will live out his last few years before probably going back to his purgatory to train, or train with, younger versions of himself.

For me it is the worst episode, with a duration of 9 minutes and a small story that could have closed better but they close it as if they were telling you "It's okay, even go play a better game, this is just commercial" literally in a very commercial episode and I have no idea where to buy a luxury console of today, I hope the series goes well and now I fear seeing the Megaman episode, I think I'll wait until December 17 to watch it in one go, I still can't get over how short it is...

They did him so wrong bro, he didn’t deserve to get killed that much, I understand him getting his throat slit, but getting JUMPED? Bro in the actual game, i was moving like i was weave nation certified and goku COMBINED! AND i got the plat! Its bull-shir. That’s why its 5/10 for me.. the game is a 10/10, they just did him dirty here.

I love the game to death and I understand where your coming from but I think they did an excellent job incorporating the resurrection mechanic into such a short animation and having it tie perfectly in with the overall message. Also it’s not canon so I’m not too bummed about him getting his ass beat.
