Secret Life #3 - Fail Them or Fail Me

Secret Life is an odd mix of a Social and PvP Minecraft game started by Grian. Players are thrown into a tiny world with almost no rules, except survive as long as possible.
In Secret Life, players are given a random secret task to complete before the episode is over which rewards up to 10 hearts or bonus items. Easy Tasks can be rerolled once into a Hard Task which rewards up to 20 hearts or bonus items, but carries the penalty risk of losing 10 hearts if you fail it. If someone guesses your secret, it is no longer a secret, and you fail the secret task.
3 Lives = Green Player
2 Lives = Yellow Player
1 Life = Red Player
Red Players are given the goal of killing all the other players in the game.

Im a bit confused on the rules. Etho correctly called out Tango's task. Does that not mean that Tango fails his task? Thus sucessfully completing Ethos task?

I was a little confused on the rules during this session as well which is why I asked Grian about it. Green names can call out other people's tasks but the other person only fails if they (choose) to confirm the guess is correct because then it is no longer a secret. Yellow names can make 1 guess per person each episode and the green names are (required) to confirm if the guess is correct or not. Tango didn't confirm it when I called him out so his secret wasn't revealed.

Tango's task said nothing about losing if he gets called out and had no losecondition at all, which seems a bit like an oversight. Therefore it didn't count when Etho called him out. The only chance for him to fail would've been not doing it at all or being called out by a yellow but those are "universal" loseconditions

The first task was SO easy. All he had to do was wait at the button for someone to come by and press it. Then ask what their task was and say _"Me too!!"_ Then make up a story about how you passed it. Then go to press the button, they tell you that you failed by revealing it. And now you have proof you convinced them! You can even pretend to be upset for fun!

Etho’s task on the first session was also extremely hard. I’m not sure why other people are getting tasks so easy they can finish them in 10 minutes and Etho keeps getting these extremely specific and hard to complete tasks.

@@Daktyl198 honestly, the first task was only so extra hard cause it was just the first few days of a small bordered server, so nobody had beds to steal, and no bases to put beds in! He had to get enough beds, get people to take and use them, and then come back later and take BACK 4 of the beds he’d given just before. Without getting caught too! That would’ve been half the work like multiple episodes into a server, but it still would be hard later due to the nature of it being a secret and others trying to figure it out

​@@Evie0hYeah I agree. It is a task that would have been hard even a few days into the series simply due to the fact that people rarely leave their bases unless to do a task. And the playing space is so small, that even if the owner isn't at their own base, that doesn't mean that other people aren't within a distance to see you going in and out of their base. It's a hard task either way. It was just extra hard because it was the first day and literally nobody had beds. Meanwhile other people got tasks like "convince somebody to jump off a cliff into water!" or "collect x torches". So weird.

definitely feels rigged or at least random within an archetype, I.e. etho keeps getting sneaky tasks, bdubs is getting builder tasks and grian/mumbo are getting social tasks

There's probably something where you submit tasks for specific Hermits, because I think that the viewers choose the tasks

@@golett0331 the viewers do not choose the tasks, some of the IDEAS for what a task can be can be submitted by viewers. We can suggest an idea for tasks through comments, and it could get picked up by someone and you’ll see the commenter credited for the idea in the book. But the players are randomly given a secret task from a collection of tasks that were put together behind the scenes. Like Skizzleman got the exact same task in his ep 2 that Scar had in his ep 1, it’s just one of the tasks in the pool of tasks to be randomly chosen from. Edit: and I forgot to add, that Grian reminded us if a task book every has a specific players username, that username was randomly assigned to that spot of the task. So the book could be “Prevent _____ from taking more than 3 hearts of damage” and it will just fill in that blank with any of the players names and happen to land on Scar. Someone could get that task later with Tango as the name instead
