Secret OASIS & FREE Campsite at Great Sand Dunes National Park

We camp hacked our way to a free camp site near Great Sand Dunes, since Pinyon Flats were full. We spent 2 days and 2 nights at Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. Not only did we hit the must do like sand sledding, we also found a secret oasis hidden in plain sight at the park.

Awesome spot! I stayed there last year! Indeed it's "free" if you have a fishing or hunting license but if you don't you will need to go get one in Mosca or elsewhere. Just a word of warning to others who might not know. Those licenses ain't so cheap either if you are from out of state. :)

Great call out. We actually mention it in the first minute of the video. You can actually buy it online nowadays (there are 5 day or 1 day option). We were on a 5 day trip in CO, so viewed it as a sunk cost. The license is cheaper than paying for camping fee.

@@fullnesters I agree it is a great option! I paid for the annual license and it was still a very good deal. It's just that people who arrive thinking it's free and then are told they have to drive to buy a license can get pretty annoyed. The online option makes it a bit easier though! It's a great spot. We had a few sandstorms though! crazy!
