A god debate । It is essential to keep in mind that the words - KALPA, MANVANTARA and YUGA have got two aspect - one for Cosmological purpose, another for Human History । You rightly said that letters and numbers are interrelated, but what is more important is the VALUE Of each number । It would have been more proper had you started with small units like - SVEDAYANA, LOMAGARTTA, NIMESH, AN, PRANA, IDAM, ETARHI, KSHAKAR - - - - - SARVATSARA, and then YUGA, MANVANTARA, KALPA । Cronology must always been put into two seperate sections - Cosmology and Human History, else efforts may go in vain । Thanks

It looks like Yugas are not just cyclical, but concentric. Cyclical to the point of infinite Time, and concentric to the point of infinite space both acting together (or applied to) matter. Like an infinite tight ball of string entwined together by the two strands of Time and Space. Age of Universe according to Vedas. Some say that our ancestors were not as advance as we are. They don't have knowledge of science and technology. but.... let's have look at this, This is about the current age (and total age) of universe as described by Vedas (sacred books of Sanatana). Lets look at Vedic science and what it says, a. Total age of universe is 311.04 trillion years (human years). b. Current age is around 155.521972944 trillion years. How it is calculated: ->There are 4 ages on earth which keeps circulating: Satya Yuga - 1.728 million years Treta Yuga - 1.296 million years Dwapara Yuga - 0.864 million years Kali Yuga - 0.432 million years Total: 4.32 million human years. -> This yuga cycle is called maha (in english, it means great/big) or divya (divine) yuga. One thousand such cycles forms one day of Brahma (a god in Sanatan culture which governs the universe). So one day of Brahma is 4.32 million * 1000 = 4.32 billion human years. Each such day of Brahma is called a "kalpa". His night also constitutes 4.32 billion human years. During his day, life exists in universe. In nighttime, no form of life exists. So one complete day and night has 8.64 billion human years. -> Age of Brahma is 100 years. Each year of Brahma has 360 days and same number of nights. Thus, total age of Brahma is 360 * 100 * 8.64 billion = 311,040 billion human years. i.e. 311.04 trillion years. This period is called "maha kalpa". -> The life span of the universe is one "maha kalpa". i.e. 311.04 trillion human years. This time span is also the duration of one breath of "Vishnu" (the ultimate god in Sanatan culture). When he exhales, thousands of universes emerges and one "Brahma" is born in each universe. When "Vishnu" inhales, all universes get sucked and Brahma dies. -> This cycle is non-ending and eternal. Thats why "Vishnu" is considered eternal in Vedic Science. How much old is our universe: -> Note that the period of Satya Yuga is 0.4x, Treta Yuga is 0.3x, Dwapara Yuga is 0.2x and Kali Yuga is 0.1x where x is the time-span of one maha-yuga cycle. I will use 'x' as 1 maha-yuga cycle subsequently. -> In 1 day of Brahma, there are 14 "manvantara". Each "manvantara" is divided into 71 "maha-yuga" cycles. So total make 14*71 = 994x (mahayuga cycles). -> Remaining cycles (1 day of Brahma contains 1000 maha-yuga cycles) are used to fill gaps between manvantara. Before and after each manvantara (called as "sandhya" and "sandhyamsa" respectively), there is a junction of 1.728 million (age of Satya Yuga, or 0.4x) human years. Total number of junctions are 15 (since there are 14 manvantaras). So total gap period is = 0.4 * 15 = 6x. Hence total makes 1000 maha-yuga cycles or 1 brahma day. -> According to the Vedic texts, current age of Brahma is 50 Brahma years and 1 brahma day (we are in the 1st day of 2nd half of brahma)and we are in the seventh "manvantara", in the 28th turnover of its 71 yuga cycles. In this cycle, we are in the start Kali Yuga. Age of kali yuga is not known perfectly but it is around 5000-10000 years. For calculation, lets assume 8000 human years. -> So current age of our universe (in terms of maha-yuga cycles) = (50 * 720 * 1000) -- 50 years * (360 days + 360 nights) * total no. of cycles in one day/night + (6 * 71) -- 6 manvantara each of 71 maha-yuga cycle + (7 * 0.4) -- 7 junctions or gaps for 6 manvantara + (27 * 1) -- we are in 28th cycle of 71 + (0.4+0.3+0.2) -- In this cycle, we are in Kali Yuga. Satya Yuga, Treat Yuga and Dwapara yuga are 0.4x, 0.3x and 0.2x respectively. + around 8000 human years -- very small, so ignoring it. Thus total age = (36,000,000 + 456.7)x = 36,000,456.7 * 4.32 million = 155,521,972.944 million years = 155.521972944 trillion human years. Now add the age of kaliyuga. i.e. around 8000 human years. One we calculate the exact age of kaliyuga, we can know the exact age of universe. How ancient Sanatan people (or Vedic people, more precisely) come up with these numbers. There are still millions of things still to be discovered from Sanatan ancient texts. One day people will surely know the value of Snatan text and further more research will be carried out.

Nileshji..Thank you for your great effort. But It is not clear the significance of 4.32m with respect to 365.259. Did the Surya Siddhanta not tell about anything of Sun's displacement in an elliptical path (the same like as the moon and the earth)? If we consider Yukteswar Giri's explanantion sun's displacement is 66.666 degree per earth revolution around the sun. So 66.66 degree of extra path that earth to cover which is around 12 degree per day become 365.55 earth day (quite logical we can consider some fraction for 24000 years for this large timeline). The same way what is the Sun's revolution time in Surya Siddhanta, as it mentioned about all planets revolution. Here I was thinking about Brahma is sitting on a lotus where the lotus comes from Vishnu Nabhi as explained in our puranas. So imagining the path of the sun is like a lotus with the influence of other unknown stars and converging towards lotus centre and ultimately will go into Vishnu nabhi which can be imagined as a blackwhole and thereafter another big bang (Shiva) so my question is can we calculate that period Yuga in that perspective or not. May be it comes out to be trillion years but if you tell if anything is mentioned in Surya Siddhanta (Kalpa & Maha Kalpa). By the way Yukteswar Giri's logic (Holy Science) looks impressive about descent and ascent phase as asura dominant and deva dominant. Further lotus has 18 petals and 24000 multiply with 18 comes 432000 (4.32m). Another concept is also floated around of 71 cycles and we are in 28th cycle (one cycle=24000). So please let us know your finding wrt Surya Siddhanta.

I humbly feel that the unresolved 24th Treta- 28th Dwapara of the Rama - Krishna avatars could well be holding the key to truly understanding this entire subject matter. JUST AS in another video Nilesh ji mentioned how some researchers (including Shri PV Vartak ji) had ignored the AV evidence (of Arundhati moving ahead of Vasishtha) in Mahabharata,, AND only he (ie, Nilesh ji) managed to research and resolve this particular astronomy evidence, SO ALSO *someone* needs to research the 24th Treta - 28th Dwapara issue some more... 'cause frankly, I doubt if the scriptures could be so, so, so astronomically off on the dating of the yugavtara's Rama and Krishna! Note that Nilesh ji used the short lineage of the Ikshvaku kings and Dashratha referring to himself as being 60,000 years old to dismiss the standard Rama-Krishna-Yuga understanding. But then the very same same points (ie, the short Ikshvaku lineage and the enormous age figure of Dashratha) become self-consistent and also an evidence when taken together with the fact that people in the previous yugas used to be long-lived. Eg, an average 100, 1000, 10,000, and 100,000 years at the starts of Kali, Dwapara, Treta, and Krita yugas respectively.

It is a misconception that zero was invented separately or much later than number system. Zero is such a simple concept. Zero is providing wholeness to the set of Natural numbers. Mathematical concepts like zero or infinity will occur naturally to anybody who has learned about counting or numbers or such basics of mathematics Origin of modern human beings (homo sapiens) is dated 300,000 years ago to 100,000 years ago. It is naive to assume that generations of human beings (homo sapiens) who roamed the earth for past so many millennia had no knowledge about natural sciences or mathematics. Absence of archaeological evidences is not a proof to assume that any human civilisations did not exist before 10000 years ago. We have fossil evidences to suggest that modern humans ie Homo sapiens evolved 300000 years to 100000 years ago. Reasons for absence of archaeological evidence need to be studied rather than concluding that humans were just nomadic animals before 10000 years or so

You take a big number 432.... For the rotation of sun in a mahayuga.. And you also note down number of rotations for other planets in our solar system..and moon also.. Next what you do is, you divide those numbers of rotations of each planets with that big number, and whatever the fraction you get, you multiply it with 365 to get the answer in number of days. For example..take an example of Mars, note down the number of rotations of Mars from the table that Nilesh Ji showed here, and divide it by the 4320000 then whatever the result is, you multiply it with 365 and you get your number of days that mars take to rotate around Sun.

The world is tech savvy - anything happens in the remotest part is instantly relayed everywhere. We are already in the ascending Dwapara. Last advent of Kali yug, Raja Yudhishtir giving up his throne to his grandson Raja Parikshith; and went into the Himalayas with all court wiseman. That is how true yuga calculation was lost to the world. IMHO< Actually, Nilesh is mixing many things to side his theory ... probably. When Mahabharata says Bheeshma brought Tretayuga in Kaliyuga, the word 'yuga' is used in metophorically, not mathematically. Similarly other examples. The yuga and kaala definitions from time sense starting from 'Anu' (which is the quantum time for any event to happen) all the way to the day brahma's life is consistent in ALL puranas, and mahabharata ( At least to my knowledge in Bhavishya, brahmavaivarta, Shiva, Vishnu and Bhagavata purana ) and there is NO confusion on this. Making assumption like devas => north pole and daemons => southpole etc in suryasiddhanta is also not needed as Niles has done here. Yes the basis of 4.32 million years comes from sun cycle in Suryasiddhanta. The higher cycles probably may have to do with the rotation of our galaxy etc ( not sure ... but just floating the idea, I myself will take it with a pinch of salt !) What is difficult to explain when it comes to our puranas really is the how Rama was in treta yuga and krishna in swpara and what is kali from time line aspect as the length of time between Rama and Krishna becomes too much. But we can live it there. No need to say that there are multiple definitions of yuga etc.

Nilesh Ji, I think your date of Mahabharat in 5561 BCE may be incorrect. More accurate calculation fits 3067 BC by manish Panditji. He clearly uses Lord Balarama's piligrimage for 42 days to come to this 3067 date of Mahabharata war.

@@prosantomukerji3931 Go and read Mahabharata in Sanskrit first carefully. Gandhari wasn't blind by birth. Even in modern times, we have seen people giving birth to 7-10 kids in a single delivery. How is that difficult to understand that Gandhari gave birth to 100 sons. Archaeologically, we started now getting the evidence of Mahabharata near the 5 villages pandavas asked from Duryodhana.

Nileshji whilst your research is one good work it is definitely not the only conclusive result taking into account the data in the Puranas and the Vedas - therefore its credibility is only acceptable to an extent and as you say, more work needs to be done. It would be disappointing to totally disregard the more ancient scriptures and reliance placed on more recent ones like the Ramayana and Mahabharat etc. With your knowledge and expertise in Sanskrit and the scriptures can you not liaise with the learned gurus such as the Shankaracharya or other such heads of Akhadas to get to the bottom of this. Truly it would be great if we can get to the bottom of this once and for all. I understand you might have even tried as it has taken a good few years for this research. I just feel that the whole thing remains confusing as ever. Sri Yukteshwar's calculation must be based on something more substantial - otherwise he would not have propounded on just an idea one would assume - I do tend to agree with his accession and descension theories and the 12,000 years goes with means "divine years" not "earth years" (maybe?). I have listened to a few of your talks - very interesting and your hard work is appreciated. I am sure your book is great work but I doubt if it would satisfy my query about the age of the Yugas. I will have to read it of course then decide. Physical evidence as you are aware is not the only thing as far as the Vedic science goes. I could be wrong and I mean no disrespect to you or your work. But in about 5 billion years, the sun will run out of hydrogen. Our star is currently in the most stable phase of its life cycle and has been since the formation of our solar system, about 4.5 billion years ago. Once all the hydrogen gets used up, the sun will grow out of this stable phase. This matches with Mahayuga of 4.32 m years

Photon Beam; Yes, They are Mythologies. Ramayana claims Hanuman, without any wings, flew across India when all other creatures from pesky mosquitoes to bald eagles need two flexible wings. Mahabharatha claims Krishna encouraged, and personally assisted the Pandavas to kill 100 Kauravas brothers. for the inheritance.
