There have been a lot of questions about the power strip's rating. The company's website states it is rated to 250v. Just wanted to add that information. Thanks for using our link! John & Bev

I have been researching the power strip you reference and am confused. Having smoked a 120vac power bar in Germany a few years ago I am being extra cautious. The built-in surge protection did not like 220vac. You mention the companies website states 250v but the amazon link on your website shows 125v. What is the power rating on the actual power strip you travel with and what is the model#? Thank you.
@RetirementTravelers Жыл бұрын
@@michaelosborne1750 You are correct that the specs on the website and Amazon are different. We have used it several months with no issues at all in many different countries. You should contact the company directly if you still have concerns. John and Bev

@@RetirementTravelers Thank you for the info and I have contacted the company. They say it should work and the '~' in the "125V~" rating means includes 240v. What does the Rating say on your strip?

I am one more that is asking the same question. When we were still home in Canada I ordered this power bar and have used it in Italy. We are in a different country now and my husband is very concerned bc it says 125v on the actual item. He's got me worried so I thought I'd ask you (you're incredibly responsive). Glad I revisited this video bc now I have seen other people adding this. Thanks for fielding questions and giving so much time to your 'peeps'! 😃 I'm going to show him your answers. Dry bags are also great to do your laundry in; I also bring Eucalan laundry soap (because I have a lot of merino wool items) which requires no rinsing. Stuff the dirty laundry in the bag, fill with water in the shower or bath, put in some Eucalan and seal. Roll it around on the shower floor a bit, then leave to soak 15 minutes. Open the bag and carefully press most of the water out with your foot, then squeeze the remaining water out of each item, spread them out on a bath towel and roll them up for 10 minutes. Unroll and hang items to dry

You guys are 110 percent correct! My wife and I have traveled everywhere with just a roller and a backpack. This includes Antarctica and Egypt. If we know we will be buying souvenirs for family, we pack a duffle that folds up nice and flat into one bag and one the way home we put the dirty laundry in it and protect the souvenirs in one roller bag. We use this method for 7-12 days of travel; we can always find a way to wash clothes on the trip if needed.

Thanks so much for getting down to the details. That’s so helpful! I wonder if it would be possible to do a video on how you save space on just your toiletries, since not being able to “go back home” to refill small containers from large ones isn’t an option. I realize that we all have different preferences/needs in that area, but different creams, liquids, etc. can be substituted for different people’s needs, while still implementing your space & weight-saving ideas. You did mention once that you use toothpaste tablets or have shared the same tube of toothpaste as you travel. That’s the type of tip I’m talking about. I’m not asking that you share anything too personal, but maybe generalize about some contents while being specific about containers. Of course, nowadays, we’re all limited by sizes of containers and liquids, but y’all have your own added limitations of what you want to haul around. 😊 I love how you “get to the point” in your videos and do such an excellent job of giving us helpful information. I also appreciate the fact that you included the change to the Osprey Fairview 55 for Bev and why you did that. We’re in the process of deciding and ordering our Osprey backpacks for our travel needs. Blessings on you both as you travel the world! We’ll be enjoying your adventures as you go. When you board a plane, do you separate the backpack into 2 pieces for a carry-on and personal item? Also, how much do you bags way full? Finally, I was surprised you had two MacBooks. Guess, you might use them at the same time, but, thought it might be better/lighter to share one. Happy Trails!!!

Yes, we separate the backpacks for a personal item. Oftentimes we carry the daypacks in our hands. They can also attach to the front of our packs. There are clips on our shoulder straps so they can hang in front. We carry about 55 lbs total between the two of us. The heaviest single items are Bev's MacBook and our tripod. @@RetirementTravelers also have the body pouch , under my clothes . Given me another wake up call , I always over pack . Have used the carry on + checked baggage , to the limit . And beyond . Have the old stuff with 2 wheels , enough . Find a back pack that will fit above me in any plane . 7-12 kgs :-) Smile :-) Tired of lugging 30 kgs of luggage and my carry on :-) How many pairs of pants/socks does one need , before a wash . In Taiwan went around the corner to the laundro , until the hotel fixed theirs . Free ! Or wash in the hand basin ? Just what do I need for a month ? Will see , thanks .

I've had lids come off bottles and spill shampoo and soap inside my toiletries bag. I've started just putting each bottle inside a quart sized freezer bag with the double zipper. I've done the layering with jackets, and it is probably the best idea, ever. The only time I had to have paper tickets was recently in Europe while traveling around by train. The trains I took between Vienna - Brno and Brno - Prague did not have a digital version available for the tickets. All the other trains I took did have the digital tickets.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the tip on paper tickets. We haven't encountered, but sure we probably will someday. We just don't have capabilities to print on the move. Safe travels, John and Bev retirementtravelers.com/retirement-travelers-store-best-travel-products

These are great tips. Some of them I hadn't thought about. That is so true about electrical outlets being so loose that your plug won't stay in, as we have also experienced that in other countries. I did laugh when John was mentioning "carrying on," even though I know you were referring to your backpacks! Thank you for sharing what you have found that works. We will definitely use them.

This is the best and most helpful packaging video I've seen. Love the outlet cube, power strip, and charging tips. I've traveled carry-on domestically within the states twice, more recently for a week long trip, and absolutely loved it. I'm planning an Ireland trip next spring, it'll be my first flight internationally. I'm now considering just bringing a carry-on. Not sure how my husband and kids will feel about it yet lol. Great job with this video!

I currently live in the Philippines. Traveling throughout SE Asia I find that most airlines in the region limit carry on luggage to 7kg. That makes checking luggage for longer trips almost necessary....Thanks for sharing your tips.
