Just as a bit of reassurance, we adopted our cat Sonny when he was about 8, he had been in a suspected RTA and needed to have his eye removed. He was with us, until he peacefully passed away, nearly 9 years later. Having one eye didn't trouble him at all - he LOVED playing, was particularly good at football, could jump and climb as well as our other cats, and was an enthusiastic mouse catcher!!! Your new little girl might be a bit unsteady at first, but she will be fine. After the op, just keep the wound clean and watch out for any swelling or weeping. She's an absolute love and Berlingo suits her!!! 😻

If you can find it in Portugal, have a look at "shining pondweed" (potamogeton lucens) as a potential plant for the ponds. It's really good at aerating the water - even with a bit of sunshine you will literally see the bubbles coming from the leaves.

It's so wonderful to be back watching and seeing both of you looking so healthy and happy! With the weather as hot as it has been here in North Carolina, that lake looks so inviting. What ever you do with the lake and pond always tell your guest, No diving. You need to protect yourselves. As soon as you mentioned sitting with your feet dangling in the water I heard that song "Sitting on the dock of the Bay" in my head. I LOVE the new baby girl. I like the idea of naming her Miracle or the Portuguese word for it. She got very lucky with her new family.

What a sweet new family member Bee and Theo!! I've adopted several cats in Spain and now France. My little Alfie (nickname for Alf Alpha - get it, Alfalfa :)) was hit by a car and had 2 surgeries to try and repair his thigh/hip. Alfie is a cute name for females too. Flossie is another sweet name (old-fashioned nickname for Florence). Or, Berlinga ('a' at the end intead of 'o' since she's a girl). Her nickname could be Berry, fruits can be cute names for pets. I like naming cats after other animal species too, Bunny, Cheetah :) Whatever name she gets, she's an adorable little sweetheart ♡♡

The lake is coming along swimmingly! I can’t wait to see it bank full again🤗 The pond is a wonderful idea. I would make a little waterfall with big stones and the water from the spring. A jetty would be good like you said, so would a bridge. Picnic tables and park benches all around the rim. It’ll be gorgeous! The kitty is so sweet. 🤗❤️🐝

I have a cat, Sparky that came to me with his 3 sisters. His one eye was literally hanging out of the socket. I had it remove when he was eight weeks old. He’s now 15 and he’s doing quite well for an older cat. I like the name Bella, or Rosa. Have the eye removed as soon as the vet says it’s ok. You’ll be surprised at how well she’ll adapt to not having it. Thank you for giving her a forever home.

Hi you two, I just loved this new episode in your journey, the apples, the lake , the new pond, the innuendo, and the new kitten, I agree that a name should suit the character of the animal, so that may take some time to figure out, by the way Bee, what's happening in your veggie garden, its important to plant marigolds to deter the bugs and Theo I don't have a clue about ponds except you need rocks that you can form into cave like structures for the fish to shelter under and constant aeration to keep the pond wildlife alive, perhaps keep the swimming area as far away from the fish and frogs as possible for the comfort of all, anyway I'm sure you'll work it all out a lot better than I could, cheers my lovelies!!!🥰😘😘💕👍👍🙏🐈🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Catfish make excellent pond additions help clean the bottom and grow pretty quickly also crayfish clean the vegetation and also make a food source for the fish as they grow. If you put about 10 feet of heavy pond line around the whole top of your pond it will keep weeds and cattails from continuing to creep into your pond also makes getting in and out easier and less messy. Make some step cutouts and Add some stone steps into the pond on top of plastic would also be a nice touch.
