Secret Service & FBI enter the Venezuelan Ambassador's house and Marine One leaves for the weekend

Yesterday was a bit nuts, and it get even more nuts after I posted my video. Secret Service and FBI, both heavily armed, entered the Venezuelan Ambassador's place. Many have asked and well, it’s complicated. The US and Venezuela don’t have embassies with each other, technically. We refused to recognize the Maduro government and as a result he closed our embassies, so we closed theirs. We gave permission to the opposition to run the Venezuelan embassy & ambassador’s residence in Washington, but after their leader Guaido was ousted, the State Department retook possession of the buildings “in trust” for the next Venezuelan government that we eventually recognize. It's still called the "Venezuelan Ambassador's Residence" though there is no ambassador. We have a similar situation with the Iranian Embassy and Ambassador's residence, as we don't have relations with them either.

He used to work in some of those Congressional office buildings which he occasionally visits in his videos. He apparently has 2 homes--one in northwest Washington, D.C., near most of the foreign embassies, the vice president's official mansion, the National Zoo, and presidents' Obama's and Clinton's 2nd homes. He has a 2nd home in rural Maryland. He listens to the Washington, D.C. fire and police departments on a police scanner. (Washington, D.C. has several other police departments which might use different radio frequencies.)

My father worked at David Taylor Naval Ships Research & Development Center from 1957 until 1987. They used to have a yearly open house, but I think those stopped after 9/11. He wasn’t allowed to tell us about most of what he worked on. Almost everything was a secret. All we knew was that he helped design ships and by running stress tests on the models, he would blow them up. I’m sure a lot has changed since the 1980’s. If you’re able to get a tour, you will enjoy it. Thank you for all your videos.

It's complicated. Venezuela closed our embassies there, we closed theirs. We recognize the other guy as the leader, than he lost his position, so now the embassies are sort of "in escrow" being held by the State Department until such a time as relations improve between the two countries.

My Dad was a construction superintendent on a bridge that was built at Cabin John in the early / mid 60’s. He was also involved with the 14th St bridge construction. We lived in Indiana so he had an apartment in DC & commuted to home about once a month. You were probably too far away to cover the gas explosion in Sterling VA Friday night. A very tragic event. We live in Ashburn, about 10 miles from Sterling.

A local volunteer firefighter from Sterling, Virginia died in the house explosion. Several other firefighters, mostly volunteers and a few paid, full time firefighters were injured. Three firefighters are injured, the others have been released from the hospital. After the explosion occurred, the Loudoun County Fire Rescue system (parent agency of the volunteer fire company) asked the Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority fire department and the Fairfax County fire department for help.

It's complicated. They closed our embassies, we closed theirs. We don't recognize their government, but the opposition guy is on the outs too. I think the State Department is currently holding the embassy "in escrow" until they have a new government. It's complicated.

There’s a lot of confusion about this situation. The embassy compound was vacated in 2019 after Venezuala broke off diplomatic ties. When that happens, embassies are placed into a trust administered by the State Department and the facilities are overseen by the GSA. There are some embassies who have been in trust for decades, such as Iran. We did not invade the enemy’s embassy, it is considered to be a federal property under these circumstances.
