Thanks Laurence, a really nice colony. someone nearby will be a bit upset at losing them! This year I have tried to be a bit more proactive, only had one colony swarm and managed to get them, they are doing well. Hope the decent weather returns soon. Peter

Hi Lawrence, do you not have problems with wax moth leaving boxes with brood comb out and accessible? Thanks as always for the great content.

They are only ever out for a week or two before they attract a swarm or are added to a hive and replaced with further boxes from stores. You couldnt leave them out all season as the wax moths would quickly find them

Are any of your bees on a brood and a half or just a brood box. We have four supers full of nectar but all uncapped would you give them another super or wait til they start capping? Thank you

Some on single brood. Some on double brood. Id keep adding the supers :)

Nice one! I caught a swarm with a marked blue queen too the other day, laying away in a fully drawn box but my mentor isn’t that keen on clipping em. What do you reckon?

Its a matter of preference I guess. I do it to help me not lose as many swarms. If I had two hives in my garden and could stick to a thorough 7 day schedule, I wouldn't clip them either

14 hives? How do u know you have reached hive saturation point in the area?

How do you know how many hives an area can handle without seeing the available forage? 10 acres of desert isn't the same as 10 acres of North Wales 😉
