Regarding the owning a mcdo, i've gone thru the process and can share a few details 1 - After applying, you need to fill out a form about yourself (mostly regarding your wealth/income and family situation) Kinda weird being asked where child goes to school and age of wife...but ok. 2 - If the regional manager likes your application, will come to meet you and explain further either become a "mcdonalds member" (where the setup cost is much lower but you will need to pay back the costs at a higher rate) or front/pay the initial setup cost (both options had something with membership, can't remember..something with royalties) The numbers Proddy brought up are the right range (and you gotta keep in mind 90% of cities already have Mcdo in the best locations, so you're applying to be the first in newly built malls/areas) This step was the deal breaker in our situation 3 - If you own other business you must relinquish ownership (either sell or remove yourself completely) Their view on this was that they want your focus to be 100% mcdonalds and not as an investment only. You don't need to work, you can hire manager who takes care of all, but you cannot have it as a side bizz. 4- If you accept the above, the next hilarious step is go thru 1 year of Hamburger University I wish i can explain the steps after with choosing location and setup but we quit at step 3 🤣 I can say this as well, we applied for Burger King at the same time . Mcdonalds was much more clear and professional. Burger King felt like they didn't care, basically just said we got a location in the middle of some motorway (you want, yes no, bye) All this was in Sweden, so BK might be shit here only
