You need to remember that the Vatican is responsible for changing the secular calendar in the 1800s from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. Before that the Julian calendar named for Julius Caesar was changed from the religious calendar of Jesus' era (biblical calendar). This year 2024 converted to the biblical calendar would be 5,785. The biblical calendar starts from the creation of Adam. This is the calendar count that the Vatican is referring to in making their statement.

I was blessed to take my wife on vacation 4 years ago to Italy. We visited Rome , Florence, and Venice for 2 weeks. Going to the Coliseum and the Vatican was literally breathtaking.
