Hi Phil. That was brilliant. Huge difference. Worked so well as you walked away. Like you said it's needed on the windy mountains. I had bought terrible ones from amazon two small ones for about £15. When we were on the Dragons Back as I was walking to the castle you can see it falls on the fall and I lose it.😁 it was too small and light. Terrible outside but fine inside. Gave up on them lost 3 now I think. I just got the same mic last weekend. Butchy Boy off KZbin lost his on a mountain after using it twice. He bought another and someone found it and returned to him. He sold it to me for a cracking price. I haven't tried it yet. Will do in the next day or two. Great review. Throughly enjoyed it. Hopefully by next week we'll start seeing improvement in the weather. Looking forward to your next one.👌👍

Thanks Jamie. That’s a real shame for Butchy boy but what a result for you 😂 Are you going to use out with your phone? If you do then, then remember to download that Rode app - makes all the difference 👍
@JamieHarding56 ай бұрын
@PhilipOlsen11 😁 It was a great result for me. I haven't even plugged it in yet. It comes with a piece to plug in the phone. It's a mic and another part that plugs in the phone. I don't need that app then, I don't think I do anyway. I'm off work with man flu.🤦🏻 I'll have a good look at it today. Hoping to take it out to a waterfall in the next couple of days. The weather's too poor for a mountain, can't see anything.

Great review Phil. Very impressed with the tripod following you! We are certainly in the market for a mic as have stopped using the GoPro12 completely because the audio on the camera and the media mic is garbage. Rather than give up on GoPro completely we will buy an external mic. Audio definitely sounded better on this. We’ll probably go down the Hollyland M2 route as we need a receiver and two mics. We shall do a review when we eventually get them!

Phil the mic is great the only trouble is that is shows up your Tachypnea. If I remember correctly didn't the old bill have you in a line out once when they was trying to catch the infamous Cardiff heavy breather, he terrorised hundreds of women by breathing heavy down the phone at them, I remember you had the best alibi cause you had swallowed a squeaky toy out of a fluffy dog that you had been chewing so when you was in the line out you had a very squeaky breathing issue which meant they couldn't pin it on you..........they never did catch him though did they? 😁
@PhilipOlsen116 ай бұрын
😂😂😂😂😂😂 Murphy I’ve got tears in my eyes 😂 If you google the Cardiff news papers from 1989 you’ll still find the article. They’ve never found who it was that case is actually still open. It’s true I like to chew squeaky dog toys, but that wasn’t my alibi that was just fact. Anyway I couldn’t breath to heavy down the phone as my halitosis would cause a cracking noise, but the witnesses said the breathing was deep & clear. How’s your breathing lately 🤔
@MrMikepmurphy6 ай бұрын
@@PhilipOlsen11 Hey Phil yeah my breathing is much better since I managed to dislodge that werthers original from the old windpipe, after 8 years id given up hope to be honest but the lesson is always remove the wrapper! In other news I had to have my big toe removed on the left foot after that rabid squirrel mistook my nubbin for a juicy nut he got right down to the bone before I had a chance to boot it over that cliff edge and by the time I climbed down to retrieve the toe cause he held on real tight, it was too far gone to reattach it, I used to like squirrels but now they just make me sad 😢

Great sound quality - I loved the gate opening sound 👍👍Initially I thought I would want to see how wind affects it, but then I reminded to myself I don't do live commentary (or any commentary) so no need to spend money for it 😁😁. Very close to buying one of these as the bluetooth connection would be great for my walking videos but ...... was spooked by numerous reports by other users that the audio from the bluetooth was significantly worse than the audio via a transmitter/receiver set up. Your thoughts ?
@PhilipOlsen11Ай бұрын
Of course it’s not as good as it would be with the receiver as it would be pointless them selling one. By I have found it to be fine. I just want nice sound rather than the deepest listening experience. For the money I’d say it was great 👍
@AndreSjobergАй бұрын
Just to confirm: The audio is noticably worse with BT to phone compared to using the receiver, I’ve made several videos about this on my channel with examples :) But depending on your use case and quality requirements BT might be good enough :) Just be aware of a couple of other things: - When using BT to connect to your phone you *can’t* use the mic’s internal backup recording feature at the same time (which is better quality compared to BT audio). So you can either connect via BT (with no internal recording on the mic), or use the mic just as a recorder, but then you have to copy the audio file into your video editing software and sync the audio when editing - this is the only way to get better audio quality than you get with the BT connection quality. - without the receiver you have no way of interfacing/adjusting settings (Dji has no app) with the mic, and you can’t turn on internal 32 bit backup recordings, so you are stuck with 24bit - for most use cases 24bit is fine, but for motovlogging the 32bit float might be handy. - also: without the receiver you can’t turn on/off the low cut/high pass filter (that cuts out low, bassy sounds ) - again not a feature for everyone.

@AndreSjobergАй бұрын
There is a sweet spot indeed, and Phil nailed it in his video ;) If you put it closer to the neckline/throat the sound will be much «duller» and lacking in clarity. On his chest like in this video it picks up a wider range of frequencies and sounds more open/clear - I’ve made a video bout placements of the mic on my channel with examples if you’re interested :)
