Being a Lucas arts game, and as cool as the un-lockable X-Wing was, I was a bit surprised they didn't sneak in the Flying Wing from Raiders Of The Lost Ark into the game.

6:00 the Val was a dive bomber. The guns it had were pea shooters compared to those found on other planes like the zeros that would be escorting them or the wildcat you faced in the video. The guns on the val were mainly used for strafing light armoured targets. The kate, again wasn’t a fighter. As a torpedo plane it’s lack of offensive weaponry is understandable to say the pea shooters it would be kitted out with would do fuck all to a ship. It’s primary role was to fly low and slow where other planes couldn’t fly as efficiently. Had that situation been simulated here, you would’ve noticed the kate had performed remarkably well in terms of flight capabilities.

I remember in the 262 mission where you had to defend the b17s from German Fighters and Lt.Woy and Pauline would always whine about their gunners not hitting anything. Well judging from the clip of the b17, with a ROF like that, you wouldn't be able to kill shit

Love the sheer defensive firepower and armor rating on the Daimler-Benz C. With a small squadron of He-P1078a parasite fighters, it would put up a hell of a fight. Put a few more of the bombers up there with their respective complement of fightercraft, and you have an airfleet capable of dominating the sky.

+spindash64 Also consider that it was a planned prototype. Another of Germany's too-little-too-late projects, something that could definitely have been a gamechanger had it arrived in time.

i dunno. a lot of the german projects were far-fetched. they were either impractical for war or just completely unworkable. some of the stuff they built adhered to this as well, like that godawful 163 and 162. even if the germans got jets earlier in the war, they still had to fight allied industrial might and numerical superiority. they probably still would have lost, the war would have just lasted longer.

-The Bf-110 was actually one of the best heavy fighters of the entire war. The highest-scoring night fighter pilot flew a 110 exclusively and 110s shot down many Allied bombers. Its poor turning radius in comparison to single-seat fighters made it mediocre in its original role as a standard fighter. As an interceptor, it was excellent. -The Heinkel He-111 was about as good as any of Germany's bombers in the war. It had its flaws but at least had better fields of fire on the machine guns than the Junkers 88 and Dornier 17 did. -The B5N and D3A were torpedo and dive bombers respectively. Any pilot-fired guns were for strafing only. They were never meant to take on fighters directly. The Kate uses the same engine sound file as the Zeke.

I've always loved this game (favorite childhood game). I've always wondered why the Nemesis Bf-109 was never available in Instant Action when the Nemesis Fw-190 and ME-262 were. Anyway, great job.

They did a bad representation of the BF110 it has more guns than the BF109 and should have made shorter work of the Hurricane in the head on attack

Sorry for late reply. The reason behind it was because it was never intended at any point in production to make it obtainable, therefore they tipped it so it was in favour of the player. Otherwise it would have the health of a lightning and way better guns than it too.

Compared to Air Conflicts(Aces of WW2), These plane don't fly like planes. They're move like robots. Air Conflicts is more realistic in terms of flying and rendering.

+halowraith1 I know right. Even the SWON wikia isn't even full of info. It's downright INCOMPLETE. Which sucks, because modding games is what makes games even more fun than their intended purposes. By the way, your welcome. I enjoyed the video a lot, and am hoping to get to use the unobtainable planes. EDIT: I want to mod the BF 110 to make it more like a actual heavy fighter, so you don't lose health as fast as if you were flying a swordfish at full health upgrades. Should have more health than a BF 109... around the level of the Lightning, edit the Kate to make it a little more armored, and the gunner a little more powerful, and fix the camo mixup with the Val and the Kate. Also, strengthing the Val would be a good idea.

Just got this thing on PC. Having issues with settings. I can't run it in windowed, or widescreen. -w, -window -windowmode, ALT+ENTER, and wrappers won't work. I even tried hex editing for resolution to no avail. Got any leads?

+halowraith1 I've actually figured it out. Most of the game data is in game.zip, game.zip/Data/DefaultConfig.xml There's a line saying 1, swap to 0 and bang, windowed mode. The menus and hanger will always run at 640x480 but the game will swap to the resolution chosen in the in-game config. There's also a line there stating resolution but I didn't mess with it. Similarly, plane data is found in game.zip/ObjData. So you can, oh, say, open up swordfish.sdx, change "Gun20mm" to "RocketLarge" and now you have a rocketthrowing swordfish. Needless to say, I'm having alot of fun.

I'm sorry, I decided to delete my question and replace it So I don't have the b17 after using this file, I went into it and the originals and both say the b17 is in it But it isnt appearing in my hangar on campaign or instant action Is there a way I can go into the code and edit it so itll be in the game? Edit: I know how to access and edit the hangar planes file, but what would I change, and what would I change it to?

I know this is a old comment, but same i am experiencing the same problem, i followed the instructions of the video placing the HangarPlanes.xml in the Program Files gamedata, which it did worked but however B-17 doesn't work for any reason idk if this is a problem with renaming the plane or something

halowraith1 I screwed around with Halo CE for PC. Also Halo 2 videos I am proud of hehehe. There are a bunch of videos on my channel. Don't delete this video, nobody will mind if you post the C-47 separate. Maybe each plane should have its own video from now on. But you made these vids in Instant Action right? Why not have several unobtainable planes fight each other like B-17s vs Daimler Benz Cs. Hehehe. Be careful about adding things like missiles to those planes because the game would probably crash XD

I don't know why these planes aren't in instant action, come on Lucsarts. 9 years old I loved the He-111. Love the fat wings. So alien and star wars looking...in the 1940s!

Don't forget the C-47 flown by Pauline. But besides that you fly the F4F in Midway and you re right, the Me-163 can't be used in campaign. But you can't fly the P-40 either!

I actually did those two (C47 and Betty), and by editing HangarPlanes.xml, you can make planes available in the campaign.
