Hi Sally, your dress is fabulous and I really enjoy your calm videos. The rolled hem would be tough on viscose because it stretches, hence it works for a bit then goes flat. I have had good results with starching and ironing the fabric flat before using the rolled hem. If it is really floppy fabric I soak the fabric in gelatine, hang over an airer to dry, again iron it, this makes the fabric feel like paper and will give the fabric structure to help with the rolled hem. Once sewn, the gelatine can be washed out. The same technique can be used for the whole fabric before cutting out, so it doesn’t move during the cutting stage. Enjoy and thank you.

Lovely video Sally and great music choice. Re left/right confusion, would it help to cut out mini scrap-paper versions of the same pattern-piece(s) and label right side/wrong side and left and right. You could then manoeuvre the mini versions and actually be able to see what's what! I don't sew, but am an ex teaching-assistant, so just trying to come up with something that might help.

Miserable day here today - so dull and damp. Need spring to be here soon! I send my pdf patterns to be printed A0, I use Flamingo Prints. Much better than all that sticking together A4 pages. I have a few StyleArc patterns but haven't tackled them yet, but I have seen various comments on the instructions being sparse. I've just made a coat which had me scratching my head about right and left!

i'd cheat on that ruffle and cut it double wide , and make a tube then attach to the dress. but cheat even more using my gathering foot to do that hard gatehering bit while attaching to dress at same time! i have mixes results with the rolled hem foot if any curve involve but usually works ok if sewing a straight grain and it does include a bit of hand folding to get it going again *f eks after a seam

I actually considered cutting a tube but I was a bit worried it might be too thick for the weight of the viscose! Might be something to try next time though. I must look into a gathering foot x
