I have questions for you. Which makes me wish there was a way I could talk to you. But for now, I will post just one. When 4e came to be, it felt like the Forgotten Realms was being treated like trash. Many things changed. (I hate 4e) Things like the spell plague were introduced. Many gods and goddesses were removed, basically, the world of Toril was being screwed over. At least in my opinion. I read a series called Falconfar. I loved the books. It made me feel that Wizards of the Coast took the world of Toril in the wrong direction. 5e feels like it is trying to fix things, but honestly, I am not into 5e. I run the forgotten realms from the standpoint of 3rd and I ignore things like the spell plague. So, how much of the realms do you control the direction of? I own Ed Greenwood Presents Elminster's Forgotten Realms. (Hell, I own a lot of your stuff) I have most of the 3rd ed Forgotten Realms books. It gets harder and harder to find what I am missing. Is the world of Toril being written the way it should be?

I always like that stuff Ed was talking about with extremely long lived people. It's a very interesting question to me, how living that long might change a person, and when you bring in the myriad concepts a fantasy setting can have, how that might differ between a human who has gained immortality versus an elf for whom it's natural. What about intelligent undead? How does the experience differ for them? I love exploring those ideas.

It's interesting to me. He and Rincewind from the disc world novels seem to have a lot of overlap in how fate treats them. Of course, Elminster is much more powerful and competent but chance is not his friend.

I love Ed's commentary about how the gaming table can be a training ground for the challenges of the crucible of real life. I was not fully aware of the full breadth and depth of the lessons I learned from playing D&D for many years. But now decades on, I see more of those lessons in my personal and professional life, and I am eteranlly grateful. Thank you for your contributions to my education Mr. Greenwood!

Im hoping that we get a 2-part series on each of the Seven Sisters. I know its old hat but boy would I love to get a run down of entire racial deity portfolios. Ok, I'll say it it: specifically my interest is in Drow and especially Ellistrae.

This added some good context for Laeral, Elminster, and Mirt. Definitely giving me some things to work with in my own campaign. I’m also looking forward to hopefully reading about Laeral and the others in future novels. Thanks for these videos!

The seven sisters are 100% my favorite entites in realms. They some how capture the same God-amongst men vibe, each in their own way. Simp for the Simbul.

Two of the Seven (Storm and Dove) were my inspiration for creating the Realms, when I was five years old, way back in 1965. They've always been special...and so, when I write about them, they feel that way.

I have been a fan of the Forgotten Realms since I bought the original box set back in 87. Since I had purchased all FR materials until 4th edition. What I always wanted to know was if all of these characters were once player characters, and if so, what are the stories behind those real people and the actual game sessions. In my mind I always figured Ed made a lot of the characters, and areas in the Realms based on games he ran in the past and it ended up fleshing out the realms. That is where the real interesting stories would be.

So, i've heard it for a while now, from Mr. Greenwood and from Chris Perkins a while ago that in 5e the gods are taking a step back in relation to mortal affairs, letting mortals deal with their own problems, there's even a hook in dungeon of the mad mage about helping Laeral with her dwindling chosen power problems, what's the reason for this change in the god's attitudes ?

@EdGreenwood - you mentioned that someone trying to impersonate Khelban could catch Laeral by surprise, what about someone impersonating Qilue considering how close those two sisters were? Considering you've shown in the lore that the Seven Sisters could return from being a weave ghost if Mystra creates a new body for them to inhabit. Could someone impersonating Qilue catch her offguard as well?

So Alustriel appears in Out of the Abyss where she "interacts with the characters with kindness and a certain whimsy, but doesn’t disclose what time period she’s from, admonishing characters who try to learn too much of the past or future." Any clues as to what information she is seeking down in Gravenhollow? (Basically my way of asking for Alustriel and Storm videos).

Mr. Greenwood. I don't get why the Gods are pulling their power away. They can stop themselves from showing up in person, but shutting down the power of arcane and divine seems like a rather foolish in universe wise, but I can understand outside when D&D was re-balanced. I do hope you don't plan for the realms to go down the same path that Tolkin envisioned where all the magic goes away and we're left in a much more empty world.
@matthewvillanueva4420 Жыл бұрын
Might be caused by the second sundering maybe
@SoakedNDnotSorry Жыл бұрын
Iirc when the gods were pulling back he's talking about was the consolidation of 4e, that's been walked back in 5e via the Second Sundering bringing the rebirth of many dead or lost gods. They still don't show up in person so often, and spells cap at 9th level (Thanks, Karsus), but divine and arcane casters aren't as Rare with a capital r as they were in 4e. If I'm remembering right. I don't think we're at risk for FR and D&D to become a magicless world.
