Secrets Punta Cana|Dreams Royal Review| Wedding|Excursions|Room Tour |2023 Vlog *Raw Review!

I visited Secrets and stayed at Dreams Royal Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
This vlog was filmed in August 2023.
Restaurants:
Fusion: 2/10
They did not use a cut of steak actually worthy of grilling.
World Cafe: 6/10 * The best thing we had honestly* The Dominican section is your best bet.
Portofino: Pizza 3/10 pizza sauce was just not IT!
Oceana 0/10
Seaside Grill: 0/10
Dirty Dishes, Dirty Silverware, Slow Service, Food COLD, Food floating in my drink.
Drying dishes with a pillowcase (Disgusting)
Backyard BBQ Thursdays ONLY - Raw Chicken - 1/10 They never refreshed the food.
The Staff:
Very polite and kind to non African American guests
Bartenders would service Caucasian customers first
Watered down drinks
The staff members would say " WHAT" as a greeting
Maximiliano, Robert worked at the main bar and were blatantly RUDE
Yimy excellent service and drinks at veranda bar
We went to the club our first evening and noticed the bartender kept going around us,
Then it happened again at the big bar right outside the lobby.
Our Steward: Luci dania Stellar!! So funny and always checked in on us!
THE SWIM UP:
Swim up pool closes at 7 pm not worth it
Everyone can literally swim and sit in front of your swim up it was 50000 kids in front our room everyday splashing and yelling!!!!
Bugs:
Mosquitos and flies I was getting lit up!!!!
The Weather :
HOTTTTTTTTTTTT! I was sweating ALL day non stop, even in the evening! *Bring extra clothes
NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY - no elevators, in important areas, we had elderly guests.
Activities around the resort:
Water Aerobics, Spanish Lessons, Pool Contests,Mixology etc.
I Won a contest -coffee was the prize.
The Room:
Wallpaper peeling off in the room.
Hard water stains on the shower glass
Specks of mold in shower and pool
They have burgers and hot dogs daily I just personally don’t eat that
Preferred members “perks”
Sunscreen
Premium liquor
Packet of credits
Private dining area (seaside grill) for breakfast and lunch
Perks of the resort or what I actually liked:
Our butler Luci Dania
The room actually was nice 8/10 spacious, swim up nice , hammocks a perk. Huge bed , lots of lounging space.
The resort pool /swim up was a big circle around the whole resort
The beach was nice
Drinks were good especially by Yimy
The resort was walkable
Secrets was literally steps away and we could use the club and casino (I’ve never experienced a resort that close to eachother)(if we would’ve known that it was that close we would’ve stayed at secrets initially like we once spoke about )
What I didn’t like:
Though we received top shelf in certain areas around the resort the drinks served by the bar tenders had zero effort they barely mixed them, they also tasted watered down.
A lot of the staff was a bit snappy literally saying "what do I want" and over looked me to serve certain skin colored guests
It was literally only 2 places in this entire resort with AIR . The lobby and the casino and it was a scorcher outside! I’ve noticed a lot of these Dominican resorts do that but even some of the restaurants barely had air it was insane.
If they poured me another food filled drink, dirty plate, fork etc I could scream OR sat me at another dirty table.
The food needed ALOT OF WORK
The metropolis of kids who sat at the bars, crowded multiple adult areas to the point we had to just leave the area.
The wedding
The food at the wedding reception and the welcome party was pretty good ,but a lot of it was the same thing served in the world cafe with the exception of better tasting fish , ribs , better cuts of steak.
The set up was beautiful for the reception.
The staff was on their jobs and very prompt.
WHAT I RECOMMEND
Though they had only 3-4 food options, they should try to perfect that menu! Or outsource since you aren’t making it taste good anyway (the entire wedding party complained).
Do themed nights in the world cafe (it was the same food, dirty grease and zero effort)
*Honestly we had to make the best of our stay and not sulk we stayed positive and it made for a great outcome**
In conclusion I will not be returning to DR ANYTIME SOON!!!
In general what i've noticed about excursions in DR :
They over sell the excursions ITS NEVER WHAT THEY SAY IT IS.
we had 17 people thinking we were getting on a catamaran!! It was a party boat with 40+ people you were forced to take your shoes off or if you had water shoes you were fine .
It was food and liquor all over the floor it was disgusting!!
Guests without shoes had to use the restroom barefoot with urine everywhere.
They promised food and a bar *Lies** It was two premixed drinks
Oversized life vests in terrible water!!! Omg it was rough !

What a beautiful wedding! Your granny looked like my granny when they started playing “ hot in here” at my cousin’s grand march, lol. Thanks for your honest opinion about the food and service. It looks like your family made the most of the situation and had a fun time.

The contrast between Dream and Secrets sounds like a management issue. Recently stayed at Secrets and the staff were the friendliest, most personable staff we've come across in our travels. The food was typical resort food; but, not the worst ever. However, when we went over to the Dream side of the resort for dinner one night, it felt completely different. The staff weren't as friendly and the food wasn't great. The contrast in food and customer service was quite noticeable. I definitely didn't want to go back over to the Dream side after our dinner experience. However, I'd definitely re-visit Secrets in the future.

The management seemed non existent to say the least, I requested to speak to managers and no one EVER came out to problem solve they let our butler handle the issues and honestly she couldn't fix the issues. I emailed them and for better words they said oh well LOL and offered a very ridiculous discount to return I honestly had to laugh ! They were easily some of the meanest staff I've come across but in the 3 places I've been in DR they are ALWAYS mean!

I stayed there last January. I agree the food isn't that great...we, however, have good meals at seaside, which we ate every day because of that lol Our room smelled a little musty, but they all did at that time. It was clean though. the service was just ok, we had a lot better service the year before in Cancun. The drinks were great though lol we had a good time but its not a resort I would run back to

I went to seaside that one time and never returned lol ! I LOVEEEE CANCUN! check out my vlog at moon palace the grand ! I’m launching a new one tomorrow from Cancun as well! Cancun is just always amazing to me ! My pina coladas were greatttttt I couldn’t stop drinking them! I can honestly say this resort never has to worry about me returning I will punch and kick everyone on the way there lol !! Also thanks for watching !!!
