Thanks Ed, My grandmother bought an 8 grave plot in Mount Moriah cemetery, she and my grandfather along with my mother are berried there. I remember on November 18th 1956 or so standing at the grave sight. My oldest brother pointed to (what used to be) Betsy Ross burial place. A pole with a flag was about 12 or so yards directly and slightly uphill from where my mother was being interred that day. I was born in/at Temple Hospital Nov. 1942 first house I lived in till I was 5 or so was between 15th and 16th on Master Street. Temple should be ashamed of themselves for their disgraceful past and at least put a plaque on that wall.

Demolished for a damn parking lot. The US really did a number on it's cities in the mid 20th century, such a shame.

My family had quite a few persons buried at monument going back a ways. But sadly just like the cemetery's decline so was the declining commitment of the families related to me. And over time all things get lost forgotten or just left behind like the people here did. I would like to thank you for you time and effort to make a lasting monument to the people who once where interred there.

Thanks for the info Mr Snyder. As you said, people won't care in the future. Younger descendants have learned/told not to spend money on cemetery plots. Storage facilities will overrun the land in the next 100 years. I wish this video had more views.

An interesting article in the September 21, 1955 Inquirer. Paul F. Barnes was appointed receiver of the Monument Cemetery Company, cemetery owner, The Court of Common Peas directed Barnes to initiate the sale and establish procedures for removal and reburial of the bodies. According to the article, there existed 748 parties on a mailing list of lot holders. All that said, in my family research efforts I've learned some cemeteries sell individual and combined lots deeded to the buyer. Others require payment for burials but the lot is in fact owned by the cemetery. I also have found few cemetery records include a contact.

Thank you, Ed Snyder. Your voice is an excellent example of what professional narration is supposed to be. The timbre of it, along with your crisp diction and varied intonation made listening to your presentation a very pleasant experience to learn from.

Excellent work Ed. I can only hope that Philadelphia and Temple will pay for their transgressions against the dead and move these grave stones to a better final resting place. I'm sure the owner of the property would not object to allowing them to be moved.
