Chad, 1990s legit classics: - IN UTERO, - USE YOUR ILLUSION 1 and 2 - SIAMESE DREAM, - METALLICA - SUPERUNKNOWN, - BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK, - DIRT, - THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL - ASTROCREEP 2000 - GARBAGE Thanks for everything you do. My company’s mantra is “Never Compromise.” It’s the mantra of your vinyl empire, too, and we’re all grateful.

I would immediately pre-order most of those records if Acoustic Sounds were able to release them. I doubt there are analog sources for many of them, however.
@austinhunt42608 ай бұрын
@@calebkeen8967 You might be right. I think we know the first seven were recorded to tape, though. The only reason I suspect Garbage's debut might've also been recorded to tape is it was engineered by their drummer, the legendary Butch Vig, whose best records were definitely on tape. I actually don't know if Trent Reznor records digital or analogue, but he is a self-avowed analogue afficionado, at least in so far as the vinyl medium is concerned. Rob Zombie may have gone full digital in the 90s. I think most of these artists would be interested in the premier AP treatment, especially seeing how successful UHQRs have been.

Ken thanks for having Chad discuss some upcoming projects. Making the best is easy as Chad always does it just takes time and money not cheapening out and try to make it sound good! I commit to all his releases and purchase from his catalog of others because of that. He picks mostly every top music artists that deserve only doing the best and that's his ethics, still the labels don't get it! When you buy the best you're never disappointed, The Who's Next 50th deserved the best possible vinyl release, what we get is a cobbled up mix hodge podge, some 1/2 speed, plangent process, who's on first, what is the code of conduct or direction? Not even equalling Pete's Lifehouse CD box from 2000. Thanks Ken and Chad for both your hard work bring each of your individual talent for us.

… nice interview, Ken. Chad being Chad :-) I prefer any of the AAA Acoustic Sounds/AP reissues to MoFis ‘cause not only of the releases but of the people driving that quality and that they offer a face to the vinyl community. The QRP pressing quality is imo second to RTI in terms of consistency and low need for return. This year I had an unusual high amount of returns, partially twice, mainly due to warpage and ugly distortions. The worst distorted pressing was Holy Cole‘s Temptation 45. The best quality pressings were for me Hooker‘s The Healer 45 and the Faust/Carmen. Many thanks for getting some hints as to future releases’ directions out of Chad.

Great conversation. I was born in 62 with three older brothers born from 49 on. I agree with your taste on what you want to make completely. I listen to mostly classic rock from the 60’s up to mid 70’s with some blues and jazz from the 50’s and 60’s. The modern artist who I think would be worth your time is Lydia Loveless. Her two CDs/LPs you should hear first are “Something Else” and “Real”. Audiophile remasters would be epic. Monk plays Ellington would sell a lot for a jazz release .

Thank God for AP, 45 rpm is like SP speed on a VCR 33 is like the EP or SLP speed! Like 30 IPS is better than 15 IPS! Less recording time, better quality, that's the Hallmark of analogue!

Joe Farrell “Outback” is an under the radar CTI release that’s exceptional post bop with the tiniest hint of fusion with Elvin Jones, Chick Corea. RVG recorded it. It’s a great LP and an OG press is only like $10 but sounds like a $100.

These companies reissue mainstream popular items that are easily found, even cheap, and they sound pretty good in original formats. If you like this type of music of course.
@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop64558 ай бұрын
Many of these titles are not easily found. John coltrane debut on prestige? Gene Ammons boss, tenor? The jazz titles they re issue are very hard to find in any kind of decent shape. The pop records are another story.
@miketomlin60408 ай бұрын
@@kenmicallefjazzvinylaudiop6455 The Coltrane has been re-issued multiple times and you should be able to find vgplus/NM copies of some of these quite easily for 20$ or so. The Ammons 67 or 87 pressings also not hard to find for 10-20$. It makes sense, financially, or presumably, to only issue more well known records with a larger audience.

Great video as always! If I lived in the US I would buy so much from Chad. It’s affordable with free shipping to boot. Living in Canada makes it ridiculously expensive. Currency conversion , shipping (which is reasonable) and duty (which is extortion) make it so unreasonable. I can only buy a few times a year. The Atlantic 75th came to $170 CDN while Aja cost $300 almost on the nose. Still, his stuff is the best and at a great price if you’re lucky enough to be a yank :)

Chad and AP do great work. Most 45 RPM will beat their 33 RPM counterparts all things being equal. I do think the difference is most noticeable on albums over 40 minutes but even 36+ minutes. If the OG was cut by Porky/RL/TML/BG at 33 it can be hard for the reissue to top the OG but supposedly Bernie just did it with Aja from a copy tape! Also some of KG recent 33s cuts beat the KG/SH 45s because of upgraded mastering equipment. This could be based on mastering preference as well. So not completely objective.

Those upcoming Atlantic 75th UHQR45's are mostly great titles, many of which I have already. That includes Genesis The Lamb.. . However, Chad, if you would like a customer's feedback on that reissue, please send it my way. My guess is that it will be the new reference version of The Lamb based on what I heard with Selling England By The Pound. I have an OG domestic and UK pressings to compare. That packaging is clever which extends the great work that Hipgnosis did back in 1974.
